No love for Necron scenery? Should I redirect my efforts to a different genre of scenery?

No way!
This is grand - but I only just saw it now.

Here's one with the things I call 'doo-dads'.

I see the control point as consisting of 4 different molds - the base, the pillar, the crown, and the doo-dad. The base and the crown can be single piece molds, and the pillar a two-piece mold.

Jury is out on the doo-dad until I can hold it in my fingers.

This one was comparatively easy. I did it while waiting for my embedded platform OS to compile. It's a basic summoning core from, you guessed it, DoW.

Hm, I need to model in holes on the insides of the summoning core pieces to allow for pinning.

Starting to look good.  I especially like the doo-dads

Have you considered using the translucent green rods that come with the 40K Necrons to do the pinning?

Although the crown is a little "clumsy".

I agree, though it is a faithful implementation of the DoW model.

Next time I do some big compiles at work I'll try some alternates and post them.

Now that is a great idea!

I can't remember the width. I'll design the holes to fit if someone has the measurements.

Also, I'm happy to email the sketchup files to any who request. It's one of my goals to create a scenery collective for those who have access to 3D printers.

Alternative A (use green rod or wire to connect the floating top thingy)
