Now you've no excuse not to do the pdfs in future!

Nicely done, Nerroth!  I like the use of the GW box art for some of the pictures, and the sketches from the Codex for the rest.

I guess this means that I need to get off my butt and finish that 40k scale Stingray now.  Well, I wanted the nose sensors of the Apache for a 'superfish' tank anyway.  I think y'all will like it when I get her finished.

Well, all I did was run the pdf maker program - it's all Dobbsy's work!

Steele,
As soon as CS pops up the new stats, I'll be starting on the army data section. This is so long as CS approves it or doesn't prefer to include his own version. My theory is that each unit type will get its own miniature picture along side the data sheet - just like the other army books. The plan is to do this all in colour as well.

I am happy to give you a fairly free reign with this. I did have a certain way that I pictured it to be, but it sounds like your view is similar and I would like to see what you come up with.

I agree that a mini pic for each unit is the way to go... that is why I canvased for Tau pictures in the other thread.

My only concern is that the final document is identicle to the core list in terms of details and stats. That needs to be right.

That's simple enough.  Whoever is working on the project simply needs to start from what you (CS) decide is the 'Final' list, and then add pics until it looks pretty, then save as a pdf.

Adding those GW fancy backgrounds is icing on the cake at this point.

Ahh yes but it looks sweet and if I can work out a way to do it, it will be done :D My plan is to have the page background have a parchment-like look similar to the main rule book (BTW, if anyone knows how to make an entire page look like the original book pages can they PM me? cheers!). It looks more professional if it's done this way as plain white paper background is a bit naff IMO :D Anyway, have no fear it will all come up looking good

I know it's in keeping with the main rules but parchment doesn't feel very tau to me (and it tends not to make a very legible printout).

I can't remember what the codices have for page backgrounds but would a more high-tech Tau printout type of deal look better?

Just a thought.

Orde

Well the sky's the limit really Colonel. I could put pink polka dots in if we wanted :D I'm having a muck around with the background style at the moment. I think I've worked out a way to do it now so I'll see what I can come up with.

Ah ha! I found my half-baked version. Just throwing it out as a conversation piece - please dont feel that this is in any way my suggestion on how to do it.

Nice one CS! Can I ask where you got the Tau alphabet characters from? Is there a font for Word anywhere available at all? That would be very handy.

I know the Tau alphabet is printed in the GW codices, but I don't know that there's actually a 'Tau font' made up.  I definitely want some Tau numbers made up as decals, because I have a LOT of crisis suits to individually number.

I actually prefer a look that's more like what's been done in the Shadowrun, Cyberpunk v3, and Infinity rulebooks.  The Tau are high-tech, and those example rulesets look like they're holographic displays of information, not text-on-page.  They have brightly-colored 'display' borders on the page, and all the text is very slightly '3d' in it's presentation (I know it's a very hard effect to get right, but it's worth it, IMO).

Looking forward to see what the result of this is.
