Congrats!  Nothing like a little shot of nationalism to brighten your day!

BBQ in december? Granted that it's warm (~5 degrees centigrade) and not snowing (but raining). Somehow I don't think that people would BBQ at this weather :D.

I am English. I BBQ in any weather!  :D

(We dont get much Summer here.)

Neither do we in here. But lately this "winter" has been awfully lot like the stereotype for typical British weather (rain, rain and some more rain) I'm starting to suspect someone did a weather transplant.  Hmmm.  :alien:

Grilling requires good weather. Barbecue, no.

For those uninitiated in the distinction between the two, barbecuing (the True southern/southwestern US definition) is cooking over low coals for an extended period and resembles hot smoking*.  This results in tender and extraordinarily flavorful meat.  There are fine distinctions in preferred meat, prep methods and cooking style based on region, a subject frequently debated by connoisseurs.  See also jerk cooking.

Grilling is cooking over a flame or coals and resembles broiling. It can be quite tasty but is frequently done badly by men who erroneously believe themselves to be quite skilled.  The results of which are something like chewing on a pieces of meat-flavored wood covered with a thin layer of creosote.  Commonly referred to as "barbecuing" by people living in a barbaric state who can't be expected to know better.

*the distinctions of smoking methods are beyond the scope of this essay.
