... and the second part of my Tyranids.

Hive Tyrant
]

Hive Tyrant on a night out with his Termagants buddies

And finally, Hierophant Bio-Titan (converted 40K Tyranid Warrior)

Up close and personal (Time to run! ?:) )

As you'll probably have guessed, I've "stolen" the painting scheme from Phil Kelly (see his great Tyranid army p. 176 of the 4th edition 40K rulebook), with a few modifications :

- CHAOS BLACK basecoat

- Drybrush 1: SNAKEBITE LEATHER
- Drybrush 2: SNAKEBITE LEATHER + BAD MOON YELLOW (1:1)
- Drybrush 3: SNAKEBITE LEATHER + BAD MOON YELLOW + WHITE SKULL (1:1:1)
- Drybrush 4: BAD MOON YELLOW + WHITE SKULL (1:1)

I thought I'd stop here, but my Tyranids were too "yellow", so I added a few more steps:

- Wash: FLESH WASH (thinned down)
- Drybrush 5: BAD MOON YELLOW (light drydrush)

- Finally, paint everything that's not claws, teeth and carapace in CHAOS BLACK.

Right, that's it for now. More pics from the Hive Fleet Juggernaut to follow soon(er or later ?:confuse: ).

Thanks for watching.

Nice work Mr Hojyn - I particularly like the pose of the big bad Hierophant - turning the 40K Nid on its belly was brilliant :D  :D  :D

Nice work!  At first I thought it was yellow(ish) over purple, and I was going to say the two colours contrast and complement very well.  But it still looks good now I know it's black. ;)

Can I ask what diameter your garg and gaunt bases are?  I'm about to stick some infantry on round bases myself (after using rectangular bases exclusively), and at the moment I'm obsessing too much over the right compromise between compactness and crowding.  Yours look about right.

Yes, the pictures aren't of the best quality... the light in particular is terrible, due to a lack of light and a shitty flash.

The "real" colours are in the sixth picture from the top (Hierophant seen from above).

The bases are 2.2 cm in diameter. They're plastic tokens with a hole in the middle that I bought 2-300 hundreds of on Ebay some time ago, but I really don't know where they came from or where to find more.

Hi,

I've only painted one unit since my last post... but not just any unit !  :)

I've used a Tyranid Warrior for my Hierophant (and Gaunts for my Hierodules, next on the list of thing to be painted), and since I wanted something bigger for my Hydraphant, the 40K Carnifex model was the natural solution.

It's probably a bit too big compared to the other Titans, but hey, at least it's EPIC !  :p

Right from the start, I had decided I wanted my Bio-Titans to look like huge spiders, so I didn't use any cannons.  Instead I used claws, both from the Tyranid Warrior and Carnifex sprues in the case of the Hydraphant.

Also, since the Hydraphant is basically a neutered Dominatrix, I used some magnets again in order to cut on expenses (one 40K Carnifex is enough!).

Finally, since the model is so huge, I had a hard time finding an appropriate base : a CD would have been large enough (roughly 12 cm), but then I could never have put the model inside woods or cities. Not basing was not an option, since all my bases are magnetized for transport. In the end, I used a regular 60 mm Titan base... but with a twist.  :)

Anyway, enough ramblings, here are the pics (WIP pics first).

The "bare" model (just so you can see the magnet)...

... and its accessories

A few hours of painting later...

Dominatrix...

... and Hydraphant

Painted "accessories" (by the way, I had never noticed it before, but the Norn Queen is such a rip-off from the first Alien movie !  :O )

And a couple more pics to round it up
