Those models are insanely good.

Which dark god did you sell your soul to to paint like that, or do you paint 40K models then shrink them with magics?

Well I've just finished my first Night Spinner. When I started these I wanted to make them a bit darker and sinister than the rest of the army. I don't think I have quite managed it, though it does look very Burtonesque, I think it is the blue and white stripes. See what you think. I'll have pictures up tonight, just waiting for the base to dry.

Here we go, these came out quite well, tried some new stuff with a model lamp and reflector and also did some more stuff with levels to get rid of the colourcast. Got rid of the red tint on the floor. So I have went back and edited the stormserpent files too and uploaded the new one.

Oh my God those are awsome.

Looking at them made me just want to paint strip my eldar and start them again in some poor attempt at imitation of your awsome scheme.

Would love to play against an army like that.

Man I need to put more effort into my epic.

Don't worry. It's still a hell of a way off being an army, if I'm lucky I'll be able to field a decent 3k army by christmas. It sound like you have a finished army. In which case cool. I paint because I really enjoy painting. haven't had a decent opponent in about a year, though I'm working on it. anyone able to travel to Cambridge? I have a marine and ork army but I'm rather town locked as I can't drive.

well i have about 10 k of my ulthwe painted , and i'de like to pretend that my desire to get them all done is what makes you such a better painter. but the truth is i suck  !  :D
another beautiful couple of figs bro, up untill now ive prefered the forgeworld models over the s.g. wherever i can use them. didnt even like the gw nightspinners , till now. i dont know that they look any "darker" but the minor variation in scheme is brilliant in that they still look like they belong in the same army, somthing no few of the really good painters ive known have a problem with. artists get bored easy  :D , maybe it's good im just a hack. ( trying really hard to feel good about what ive done to my poor models, can't ya tell.  :;):

Yay I've finally got the unit of Night spinners finished, now I could claim that I was taking my time and making sure they were really good... but the truth is I've been pimping my ride on Need for Speed: CARBON, watching Oban Star Racers and going out drinking and carousing. Anyhow finally got them finished and here they are. I seem to finally be getting the hang of taking epic photos. The new trick I've found is not to zoom in on the models. that means that most of the model is going through the central part of the lense so you get a better depth of field. As I have to knock the size down to 600 pixels anyhow it doesn't matter that I haven't zoomed in :)

I also got time today to paint my wraithgate that has been sitting on my side for at least a week now. I wanted to give it the feel of porcelein to make it look eldar made, so I undercoated with white spray and gave the whole model a wash of 3 part skull white, 3 parts bleached bone, 1 part brown ink and 6 parts matt varnish, this worked perfectly. I then made a mix of graveyard earth, brown in and matt varnish and applied it to where I wanted deeper shadows.

Finally I took a photo of a group of models. I can't seem to get it perfectly sharp even now. I think I will have to link in a second flash and possibly add an extra reflector in. Anyone got any ideas?

I said it once and I will say it again HOLY #UCK!........ THATS CRAZY! ?

The only thing that didnt make me want to kill my self for being such a crap painter , was the wraith gate, its cool and all but some more colar so that it matches the army might of been better, also a cool idea would be to put a small slice of that crystal rock stuff(cant remeber what its called, but its the rocks that have purple and blue crystals inside a larger hallow rock) and just put a pice no bigger then a penny to show like a warp gate opening....or some thing like that(inbetween the wings)

Its still all very cool, good job
