Where does your alias come from?

And why did you choose the one you did?

Just out of curiosity; and bonus points to anyone who knows where "Mojarn Piett" comes from. :;):

No points for people who guess where mine goes from!

However my other alias's are a tad more difficult - GAMBIT (still easy) and DRUAGA (I will give you a clue - it is in mythology).

Anything to do with this gem I found on google? Or did you create him?

MOJARN PIETT - Penal Legion Lieutenant - NPC

'Porky' Piett is renowned for his ferocious appetite, as his enormous girth, and constant extra ration load clearly demonstrate. The unfortunate souls who comprise the Penal Legion live in mortal fear of him. Although unsubstantiated, stories abound about his methods of dispensing justice, and how his sentences can be coloured by the amount of time elapsed since Porky's last meal (and whether the accused has plenty of rations or not).

One (possibly apocryphal) anecdote reports that during the months-long siege of the Penal Legion's garrison on Wakkalub Ill, Porky fried and ate wounded troopers... Whatever the reason, Porky rarely has much trouble from the convicts under his command.

Mine is a simple story.

I'm not exactly a tall guy even now, but when I was in primary school I was the tiny one. Thus one day the school bully (3 years my senior) decided to have a go at me.

He jumped off a small set of steps and with a two-handed fist blow to my head, knocked me to the ground as he came down. I got back up, OK but a little dazed - However, he'd broken a number of bones in his hand. Hence the name "TuffSkull." The name very much stuck, and later became my online nickname & now I can't get rid of it!

When I started doing websites, some referred to them as the "TuffSkull Network." This in turn got shortened to TuffNett for my first business, and TuffNett Productions Ltd. when I registered my company almost 3 years ago.

Thirteen years on and I still have a couple of mates who occassionally refer to me as "Tuffy" for a laugh since they're both 6ft+ & built like blocks of flats & I look like some kid if I stand between them, but it's mainly online! ?:D

Come to think of it, there are probably more people who would recognise the name "TuffSkull" than there are those who would know "Paul Townsend," which is rather weird. :blues:

I have the worst memory for names - and no matter how many times I am told I always forget your real name.

However... Tuffskull is lodged in my mind!

Tas is a term used in our Naval ships and refers to a specialist position onboard.  It stands for Torpedo and Anti Submarine officer, and means the one person on the ship who is a specialist in hunting submariens and th tactical emplyment of torpedoes.

I am a TAS specialist by trade for some time now, have held the TAS job in 4 ships and now instruct baby TAS officers.  The Tas officer is always called "Tas" by other officers in the ship, thus my online nickname.

It has nothing to do with coming from Tasmania! :D

BINGO! We have a winner; and I must say you are even more civilized than I have thought.  :O

The reason I chose Mojarn to be my alias. Well, first of all, I have started to get worried about the expansion of my lower torso for a while. Though I am not fat by any standards it is aesthetically displeasing.

Second, I couldn't bring myself to took on the mantle of a hero (which I definetely am not) -so I chose an anti-hero. And this probably tells scores about the level of my self-esteem... :;):

Third, I wanted an alias connected with my hobby, yet one which nobody else would want.

Jimbo is because Jimbo is...

and it's nowt to do with a cartoon character either

my "actual" name is James and in the past a certain person called me Jimbo and therefore when I first went on the net and didn't want to disclose my actual name I used Jimbo

Jimbo's first usenet posting

I have used Jimbo ever since

Why Felix's Gaming Pages

Well I originally ran a publishing company, Felix Enterprises (which is where felixent came from) when I wound that business up it became Felix's Gaming Pages

Why Felix

James Felix

It therefore can become difficult when I need to use either Felix or Jimbo

My secure net call sign when I was assigned to a Mech Bn in the R.O.K. ('85-'86) ... it was simple and something I could easily remember ... :;):

NetEpic,

GAMBIT (still easy)

Is this nickname from the comic book?

DRUAGA (I will give you a clue - it is in mythology).

Celtic mythology?

My nickname isn't so "nick." It's real! However, my family uses another name legally here in the states so I adopted the older name as my I.D.. It's also a variation of my nickname from French class years ago - Maxime Valors.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
Kudos to anyone who can find out what Smelchak means.

Back when I was learning the "internet ropes," a friend helped me get a Hotmail address (it sounded like a big deal at the time! ?:D ) and after 10,000 tries for a name I landed NightSerpent.

I couldn't believe what was already taken, so I just started trying random combinations of words. Since then it has all been connected out of convenience (Nightserpent.com, and my username on various forums). It wasn't my first choice, but it works well enough.

'Serpent' because I have always liked reptiles. I find them fascinating in every way (the way they move, eat, shed, sense, look, etc.). I used to keep a couple boa constrictors and snapping turtles as pets. 'Night' just worked well with the other word. It fits well with my art, as it often is dark in tone.

For me, its a simple case of my first favourite warhammer character was Karandras the Shadow Hunter.  So I chose it.

Other wierd names I use,

tinmasse is one of my hotmail accounts.  Basically the last part of my first name, and the start of my last (Martin Massey).

And then there's monkey_tin another hotmail account.  This came from me wanting to use monkey_magic but it was taken.  So I used tin again (as by some people I am called it).  In fact, depending upon which group of friends I'm with (bikers/football/drinking ad other mates) I am called different names.

There's- Mart,Mass, Tin, Massey, Malcolm, Matt, Nick and finally Geordie.  It gets confusing when they all meet up at a party.  :{

This is taken from:
http://www.milparade.com/2002/53/068-069.pdf

The concept of precision-guided weapons capable of engaging pinpoint targets with the first shot has proven its
viability in combat in various regions of the world in the last few decades. Systems based on semiactive laser guidance
play an important role in it. Guided munitions in these systems have a homing head which receives a signal generated by a laser ranger designator (LRD) and reflected from a target, and
ensures flight control and guidance to the illuminated target.
Russian systems of this class include the Krasnopol and Kitolov-2M laser-guided artillery projectiles, as well as the Smelchak and Santimetr laser-designated projectiles.

Jimbo,

Good try, but no. There is a missile named SMELCHAK, but that's not what the word means.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
