If 'Chaos' are being released in the next SG release slot, will LATD be released at the same time, or held back for a *while?

I ask because a compadre of mine has recently started up LATD, and is currently making-do with some exceptionally old SM-era Chaos miniatures.

* == A **few years. :D

** == Many. :D

I say we dream big and say at the same time. It's not like GW will listen, but it will be fun to dream. :;):

I was just wondering, because the E40k plastic chaos sprue contains both types of infantry IIRC, so you'd get pieces for both armies on a single sprue...

Thus the sensible thing to do will be to release them both together as a chaos hoard, with the option of buying the extras to make it marines or LatD.

So GW will not bother.

AFAIK, there will be no retooling of sprues.  That means both CSM and cultists will be available at the same time so the armies should be "official-ized" concurrently.

Actually, I'm kind of hoping that GW won't retool the sprues, since I never did buy any during the E40k days.

Aye they seem to be about the rarest of all Epic sprues on ebay, which is a shame when you consider how decent the sculpts are!

Unfortunately metal Bloodletters and Horrors go for a pretty penny on ebay. That's why I don't have many of them.  :(

From an exchange of emails with Andy Hall a few months ago he indicated that L&D were never going to be officialised. He stated that they were only ever a fanlist and when it hit the fan about that he backtracked to saying that they would now only be a fanlist due to the lack of models.

That's been discussed since then.  In fact, that whole fiasco precipitated the ERC/Andy discussion about it.

The standard SG is using is that they don't want to release a list that will require OOP models to be viable.  L&D, once infantry and daemons available on chaos sprues, should be a viable list using available product lines (Imperial, mostly).  I don't think the daemon engines will make it back into print and that was causing the heartburn.  But even without them everything else on the list will be available and a range of potential army types and strategies will be feasible.

That doesn't mean they will definitely decide to make it "official" but everyone on the ERC said we thought it was good enough to do so.  I will be surprised if they continue to keep it unofficial.

No kidding! They were very hard to get (at least on store shelves) even when they were still in production! Wanna trade 30 deamonettes for 5 bloodletters?  :laugh:  :D

I agree that LatD should be official. The core units would be available, and if it is only the Daemon Engines that are holding things up then I dont think that this is a problem at all... in fact, these are exactly the units that actually benefit from players scratch-building and converting their own.

I cant really think of any Epic player that would not want the LatD list to be made official, as it has gone through the same playtesting as the other lists.
