Hi. So, the plan is/was to begin EpiComp06 one week from today. However, I have had two people offer to donate a prize, including myself this means that we have prizes for three categories.
In addition, I am a little worried the enthusiasm for Epic in general is declining, and that competition entries will suffer. Therefore, my proposed solution is:
While we had five categories last year, I propose that we drop it to three this year. This would be Battle Force, Single Unit and Singe War Machine. This would be dropping the Open and Terrain categories from previous years.
I feel that this would concentrate the entries into the main categories and focus attention in certain areas.
If this is the case, then we are able to go ahead with the competition starting the 1st September (UK time!).
Comments?

Hi CS and everyone, it's sad to agree to this - but I agree. Although we've seen some fantastic work in both categories, the 'open' stuff can fit in with the categories left in; seeing the terrain go is sad too, but I guess it's the best way out - anyway, I spent far too much time on terrain last year.... If we had to decide to eave one of these two in, I'd keep terrain, as it's a bit of a different aspect of the hobby.
As for the start - I'm raring to go.

Sadly the same thing is happening to Battlefleet Gothic. Last year had more entries, maybe the last week will show some more vessels.
But, less participants means more chance to win but more particpants is better for the hobby.

I'm willing to have a go. My only problem will be getting pics submitted.

Hey CS - and all - I had recently started a thread on my new SM chapter, and the army I'm painting for it. I had shown a pic of a test Rhino - which will NOT be part of theat army - and had shown no other pics of it other than basecoated Vindicators. Can I enter the Epicomp Battleforce category with this army, or have I publicised it too much? I would of course ask for that thread - which I cannot find! - to be pinned or deleted.

I dont think that this would be a big problem (I want to be encouraging entries now, not restricting them!).

Where are the rules that state what a 'battleforce' is. Is it a certain ammount of points, or just a themed force that looks cool?

I'm keen to have a crack at the battle force catagory, but like E&E, what are the requirements?
Cheers Aaron

Thank you CS.
As for the Battleforce - this is from Epicomp 2005: Epic Battleforce - Defined as a grouping of complete units (under any rules version) that must contain vehicles and/or infantry. It must contain at least 12 units (of any combination of infantry, vehicles, flyers and/or war engines). For example, your entry could comprise 12 stands of Tryanid infantry or could comprise 9 Leman Russ tanks with three BaneBlades.

Last years rules should be used as a guide. I will formulate and publish the specific rules for the categories next week.
Thanks.

Then would war engines count as per their DC value?

Good question. In the past, no they have counted as a single model (the idea of a battleforce is to get a good handful of minis, rather than just three SHTs).

I am looking at submitting a Titan Legion Force that I have already painted. However at this at this stage it has no auxillery units only titans. That is why I posed the question.
