Hi!

I never criticize Isreal. Not because they have some divine sort of writ to do as they please, but becuase their neighbors have had a clear and direct purpose to eradicate them from the face of the earth.

Under such circumstances I always condone their actions, after all it is the most basic right to survive and try to live in peace.

Primarch.

Hi Guys,
With all respect, I will confine my non-hobby views to this thread. This is my place and noone needs to read it unless they want to.
On this thread, I am who I am. I write about who I am without needing to put parts of me in a closet or elsewhere.Shabbat Shalom,

Fair enough Maksim. You are correct, you have a right to post what ever you wish.

Thank you.

Dafrca, I've long considered myself your friend and still do, but I ask you not to abandon me and my htread in this time of stress.

I understand that you've had a hard time at work with employees acting uncouth, but this thread, my thread, isn't your work and I'm not your employees... I'm your friend.

I'm the guy who's fought with you before, visited you before, listened to you before, supported you before and was the first to welcome you back after you left these forums for awhile to take care of personal issues.

I'm also the guy who reads you thread here without fail and never condemns you for posting OT items that are not strictly hobby-related. In fact, I enjoy that fact that many of us are free to post about OT subjects such as Tas, yourself and me. I like the fact that so many of us are fully-developed human beings and not just simple hobby caricatures here. It's that very fact that makes Epicomms a meaningful community for me and not just a hobby discussion board full of strangers and near-strangers.

I would ask you to stand by me and support me while "me and mine" are suffering in a war. I do realize that I've posted here about that war and I know that it can be stressful, but I need your support and the support of others like you who give a damn in an often cruel and callous world.

Please don't abandon my thread and me, by proxy.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I don't mind criticism of Israel one iota... in fact, I think that accepting constructive criticism is one of the halmarks of a good nation.

What I don't like is the double standards employed against Israel and how the situations that Israel must endeavor to face are so often put out of context.

And I don't like having to constantly face up to genocidal neighbors who want to commit genocide against my people and my relatives. I'd rather be exclusively working on my hobbies and enjoying the better aspects of life.

However, life isn't always a bowl of cherries... sometimes you have to deal with the pits and when that happens...

I don't want to be one of those wishy washy people who tried to straddle the line and bury my head in the sand to avoid the problems of the day. I'm not neutral... I have an opinion and I not only know what's right and wrong, but I'm willing to take stand on issues of morality and ethics.

Hi Guys,

I published a new post on my blog from some gaming I did yesterday:

And the photos from the day here:

It was a good day... we had three miniatures games and a number of board games.

Shalom,

Hi Maks

Good game from civil war, if you need some background or reference no doubt to contact with me.

All my best to you and your family/friends in this hard time.

The Europe media give us a lot of information but I think that's not propaganda I can read and see a lot of diferent opinions about this conflict. The general opinion is that a diplomatic way is needed with urgently to stop the situation. The world is big enought to allow all of us to live in peace.

That's good to hear.

I'm still concerned that much of the mainstream media is "streamlining" local operations by hiring local stringers without checking their credentials. One of the most recent scandals includes AP, AFP and Reuters. they've been caught doctoring photographs and passing them off as the news. It's ugly.

I'd like a diplomatic solution too, but I don't see it as very likely since Hezbollah doesn't consider itself bound to negociate with infidels let alone tolerate their existence on the same planet.

I wish the diplomats every fortune with a near impossible task.

I agree with Primarch's comment 100%. I just hope that the Israeli's are n't committing a tactical error by relying on tanks and planes to fight a guerilla war, and a strategic error by doing the enemy's recruitment drive for them.

Lets hope that can find a way out of this that offers peace to ALL sides.

Cheers

Agreed.

I don't want this to come across too harsh but could we please drop the discussion about current "hot issues"?

I really hope your family and loved ones come out of this terrible conflict unharmed Maksim, but like Dafrca also noted I really don't want to discuss politics on this board. It's not that I have any particular problem with what's been said so far but the forum rules are very clear: NO politics. I don't agree with the argument that this is your thread and if people don't like it the they can just choose not to read it. Allowing this sort of thing opens up a whole can of worms: What's to stop people with a lot less sympathetic opinions from posting all sorts of political, religious, whatever nonsense in their own "personal blogs"?
This leaves us with a big problem: What sort of opinions are "the right ones" that we can allow on a board like this. I think even touching this subject will cause a big argument as people will have widley different opinions of what is acceptable.
Basically I would just hate to see threads about racial or religious issues simply because of the argument "if you don't like it, don't read it".
Another important thing to remember is that although most of us are mature people with a nuanced view of the world, some forum readers aren't that old and are only starting to form their own opinions. I've been to gaming forums that had political sections which allowed some pretty nasty ultra right wing bigots to air their opinions. Although it was easy enough to tear their arguments apart I still felt horrified that kids might read this sort of thing and think that it was the truth. After all gaming forums for a large part is aimed at the younger audience.

Now of course this is a worst case scenario and the relaxed discussion we've had here cannot even begin to compare to that. You know that I very much respect you and your opinions Maksim. However I strongly feel that it would be better if you could confine this sort of thing to your blogspot blog so we don't start bending forum rules here. I really don't want this forum to go in that direction so I think it is better if we simply say: No politics. Period.

Again I hope it doesn't come across too harsh. It certainly wasn't meant that way. I simply wanted to raise my concern about bending forum rules and thought I better explain myself a bit. Please don't take this as an offense :;):

edit: I just realized that this does sound too much like it was aimed at just Maksim. I better stress that my concern applies to everyone who commented about the war.

Ok, I'll step down from the soapbox again now :p :;):

Cheers! ?:)

Hi Guys,

I'm chilled out.

No worries.

At the time I was really stressed out... constantly ?receiving calls and E-mails from my friends in Israel about the rocket attacks and then seeing my friends getting condemned in the media.

I'm more on even kilter now and wish that this episode had never come about.

I'm not ashamed of it though... at some time in a good man's life, he has to stand up for what he believes in.

"The only thing needed for evil to triumph is for enough good men to do nothing."

- Edmund Burke.

http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Edmund_Burke

And I don't feel that I was untowards in asking my friends here for support. I wouldn't ask anyone to choose between the sides (that's a personal matter), but I would ask my friends to support me.

But enough of that, I have good news and maybe even MORE good news very soon!

Wishing everyone the best!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,

My good news is that I may be in a new and much better job soon... possibly by the end of the week. As in the kind of better job that pays more than $20.00 USD an hour and involves travel... REAL MONEY!

I sure hope it works out. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
