Looks to me like the market screams for Necrons. ?That would prob. be the next most profitable thing. ?If molds are still around, could just go with Chaos androids as the starting point.

It'd be very simple to make metal-cast warriors at least.

But the whole rest of the army would require sculpting from scratch...

As I see it, if the Chaos minis get out then Epic has a proper range of old school mins (sans Squats).  If Tyranids get out, then all the better.

Those releases should be all Epic needs to convince players that Epic has depth and it should boost sales.

Hopefully that would convince GW that Necron sculpts are worth the effort.  Maybe I'm a dreamer though  :;):

Sorry to interrupt the usual doom and gloom merchants on this forum  :p,  but here's some more news about the Chaos release - posted yesterday on SG forum.

Yes, we've seen this before. There was an official announcement (with pics, no less) about Exodites in WD, oh, some 10 years ago. I believe it when (if) I see the models available in the online store. Then I'll do the happy dance. And, for the record, unfortunantely neither Andy nor Jervis decides whenter a mini line is launched or not. If they did, we'd already have Chaos AND Tyranids available.

The Chaos release is the only real _big_ problem affecting epic players at the moment in my opinion. Yes I know Primarch and his cronies won't be happy until SG takes over GW and execute the management

I guess that makes me a "crony". Fine. I'd rather be a crony than a fanboy...  :)

- but as far as I'm concerned Jervis has done a pretty good job of setting up a system for continued support and development of epic armageddon, given the cutbacks that were out of his control.  If they would only get the chaos and nids into production again things would be rosey.  :)

I wonder why is it than whenever the policies of GW get fired upon people take it as a personal assault on JJ and Andy. At least we "cronies" can understand Andy/JJ don't make the decisions about such things.

This is about GW's commitment to SG. Which brings us to the "gloom & doom"

FACT: GW has cut SG support continuously for some time.

-Magazies were combined, then killed.
-Staff was reduced to somewhere between skeleton crew and nothing.
-New mini lines were cancelled, the release of old models pushed back.
-JJ himself has been moved from the head of SG to other projects.

And just to make it clear: neither JJ nor Andy made any of these decisions. Nobody is blaming them here. Just move along and buy some 40k.  :p

Mojarn Piett summed up my thoughts.

Two things prevented Epic A becoming bigger success IMO:
1) Lack of Chaos & Nids in the second book. They had 6 main armies at Epic40k era with 6 sets of plastic infantry. If SG had released them 3 armies per book then we would have got 2 decent books covering the main armies. Then SG could have come up with PDF's for variant army lists such as Siegemasters and Feral Orks in the same wasy they did for Speed Freeks.
2) Lack of support for SG by main GW.

If they release Chaos in spring 2007 that would be long overdue but welcome nonetheless. And gives GW a chance to make more money from moulds that they already possess. So that should make even the beancounters happy.

However I will beleive it when I see it. And I don't mean posted on the Online Store. Otherwise I would be able to field Endeavour Class Light Cruisers in BFG. Nope I will believe it when I see the Chaos figures in my hand.

Cheers

James

My 5k Chaos army is just about done now mainly thanks to eBay and I've just filled in the last gaps with DRM.  Whatever the release schedule is, it's too late for my money.

I do agree, putting out armies like Feral Orks & Siegemasters, while great for diversity, really should have happened after the 'core' armies had been released.

But Chaos. Are. Coming. :D

Mojarn is on Target ! ?Again, the Exodites, Eldar X-Vehicles all shown on one page once ... then 0 for ten years ?!?! ?Like a pic of Big Foot, everybody saw the pic ! ? But where's the Hairy Beast ?!?!  F/Orks ... over 6 months late ?!?! ?So again for my money ... show me the minis ... I'll show you my VISA ! ?Doom & Gloom is many times warranted, IMO ... ?Like a Tart on Prom night ... don't tease ! ?They lost money on both the Exodites/X-veh and F/Orks very late releases ... ?Like Col. S said ... he bought is stuff from someone else ... So G/W ... "sows what it reaps" ... ?Show me the minis, my VISA is waiting ... ? ? ? ? ? :D

@ Mojarn - I think you missed the intention behind my post - which is what good does the constant complaining and catastrophising actually do?

Don't you think the rest of us hate what GW did to epic? On top of that we get further suffering by scrolling through pages of ad nauseum repetition of wailing complaints and portents of doom, and it?s typically the same people repeating themselves over and over! We know already!!   :)

@ wargame insomniac and others - yes of course and isn't hindsight a wonderful thing...   :;):

House Rules - Sounds good, though I'm disapointed to hear that the Titan Weapons modifications will never become official.

Huh?  I listed that as an example of "will be official but pending part of a larger release."

Neal,

Do you think it would be a good idea to split the House Rules section into one section for rules that will never become official and another for rules that will become official? This might make it clearer which rules will always remain unofficial.

Once again, thanks for the update.  :)

Id second this- it would be really useful to know which rules are being considered for review so they could be playtested and also which rules become canon.

This is turning into a really interesting discussion!

Not to be a party pooper, but Andy waiting untill two days before August to then see what actually can or cant be done with the Chaos molds sounds like total hogwash to me. either this is a fabrication or their was never any intention of meeting an Aug release.
secondly although I respect the names I have seen posted here for the ERC commitee, its what like four people, and at least one of them is being real quiet, aka not providing Imput. and I know some of whats going on with pixelgeek from bumping in to him on other forums as well as checking his own personal sites out semi regularly I wouldnt be surprised if he did drop away from epic, I believe he has already relieved himself of many of his epic minis. Anyway my point is thats an awlfull small group, and in general communication between them and the majority of the epic community and the SGs forum is way too limited. Lastly I'd just like to say that Andy needs to come out and say some of these things to everyone, not just quietly to a small few in a hush hush maner. If thats the way it is lets see it being spelled out up front, no more rumours or speculation just a straiforward anouncement.
my two cents

I wouldn't say "never" but I would agree that "not for a long time" is accurate.

Vault:  Additional subcategories are a possibility and that division was suggested.

In any case, don't expect any changes for a while.

I would have to agree with this sentiment.  This is alot of work and alot of responsibility for 4 guys with real lives, no matter how devoted they are to the cause.

I'm not making any negative comments about the ERC, just that I think more could be accomplished if they had help.

I have no technical knowledge to offer, but will gladly do any "grunt" work I can.
