Just out of curiosity, has there been anything heard recently about this? (I'm getting caught up on old posts, now that the forum is back.)

Not yet.  I was waiting until CS cast the Resurrest Boards spell before prodding Eureka any further.  I'll send them a note and see if they have found a sculptor willing to do 6mm yet.

I know I'm a little late on this topic, but even at GW prices, I'd invest in a few "skeletal robots". At DRM prices, I'd buy ALOT!  And just because I already have DRM to use as ...CENSOR... proxies doesn't mean I won't take on some more!

If they aren't able to do 6mm infantry, how about vehicles?  They are closer to 25/28mm.  Just make them generic enough that if players want to proxy them, they need to add a few bits.

I could think of a monolithic use for a generic Aztec style temple, if it were the right size.

We may not be able to find enough people to buy thousands of these, but could get way more than 300 especially if word spread beyond epicomms.

So, did this subject die?

Let's bring it back to the top and see if anyone notices.

Wouldn't you be after "space frogmen"? ?:)

I think the idea was floated as a 1000 club for 6mm. ?Using their existing prices for GZG 6mm (and dropping the metal bases), I'd figure you're looking at maybe $15-20US for 100 figures. ?That's reasonably attractive I'd think....the trick is agreeing on one proposal! ?Once we do that, perhaps we can commission Vermis to do the sculpt ?:;):.  How about a poll?

- space elves on lizards
- chaotic space elves with CC weapons
- space frogmen
- T1000 clones
- Androids with squared off rifles

Remember that what ever is agreed upon must be enough different from the GW IP to pass his "I do not want legal issues" test or Eurika will not go forward. He has said that many times before.

Interesting list, but I can't image where you came up with those concepts

I think I'd settle for a generic "guy" with full helmet on lizard
Chaotic space "guys" w/ CC weapons. ?I like it, but can use other things
space frogmen. ?DRM got that one covered.  :;):
T1000 clones. ?We might have a winna' here!!!!
Androids with squared off rifles. ?I'd like this one, ALOT, but it might be harder to find/build the type of vehicles I imagine these generic robots might scoot around in.

I'm going to have to vote for "skeletal robots". ?I also feel we could get alot more people behind this one.

What I was refering to for the 300 club were 6mm vehicles(maybe even bump up to 500). ?They are closer in size to the 25/28mm scale they normally work with and perhaps we wouldn't need to have quite so many orders as the 6mm vehicles would be more expensive than 6mm figs.

Edit:
I concur, Vermis as sculptor. ?Mark him down for that.

If the vehicle Idea goes any further, I think pipboy might be a good candidate to do some of that work.

I wouldn't try pushing vehicles through the Eureka club.  I think FW has proven that resin is a viable option for 6mm vehicles, and the numbers are generally smaller.  I'd think there are plenty of contract resin casters who could do vehicles.  The need I see is for troops.

BTW, there are a couple of GZG 6mm guys who have full face, slightly bulbous helmets.  They don't have frog legs, but should meet your criteria.

Actually, I'm struggling with the "space elves with CC weapons".  Harlies and Scorpions are kinda hard to get in Company sized lots.

Don't know why we still need a T1000 clone with the DRM Andry Troopers available.  They look like an excellent proxy to me.

I don't have a problem buying the existing vehicles that would go with the androids with squared off rifles.  It's the 50p per single infantry man I can't afford.

On the IP issue, instead of "space elves with CC weapons", perhaps it could be "futuristic Mohican with power hatchet and laspistol". ? :D

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE DRM, but the Andys only look so so like what I wanted. ?However, I'm not above buying anything Eurika is willing to give me. ?As far as "Robots w/ squared off rifles" ?The rifles may not be squared off, but I like the Andy's for this role too. ?I even thing the Krays would make good sidekicks for them.

Now that ?I think about it, if you aren't TOO picky, I could see a combination of Andy and Kray vehicles as good proxies for these "Robots and Sidekicks"

Edit:
TBH I'll be happy if we can get them to make anything 6mm I can't buy somewhere else! :D

I am contemplating an attempt to scratch build a "Skeleton with Rifle" mini. I'm not in any huge hurry but I am keen to do it. I haven't done any 6mm stuff before - other than converting some. I've sketched a couple of ideas so far but need to work on putting them into practice first and also look at what materials (wire frame, putty etc) I will need. Stay tuned :D

Quick update: ?here's what I've heard so far (i.e., not much):

Hi, Nic. There's some interest in this on this thread:

If you have a sculptor who would do it, I think we could make the pre-order cut. Feel free to jump into that thread and respond directly to the posters if you have some concerns around the idea.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Andreas

Dear Andreas

Nic isn't able to comment at the moment as he's away in the US and the UK for a couple of conventions. I'll keep your message and the link and make sure he sees them when he returns in a little under two weeks.

In the meantime, I'm afraid I can't tell you if he's discussed this with any of our sculptors yet. The reaction on your forum is (for the most part) promising though. The only thing I would say is that (obviously) no intellectual copyright will be infringed if we do them - just changing the names will not be enough - the figures will have to look different from what-ever GW originals you are using as inspiration. However - in a scale as small as 6mm we probably have a little lee-way.

Best wishes - John

John,

Thanks for your reply. Do you mind if I share it with that thread?

On IP issues, the group on the EpiComms forums are pretty sophisticated and have already had lengthy discussions on IP. We wouldn't ask Eureka to do anything that would put it in legal jeopardy. It helps, though, that GW has never (and may never) made a 6mm Necron of any kind, and that the Necrons are a rip-off of the "skeletal robots" in the Terminator movies anyway. So anything made along those lines is sure to be unlike anything GW has made, and can be easily claimed to simply be "skeletal robots" a la Schwarzenegger.

There's one or two people on the EpiComms forums who have expressed interest in trying to sculpt something like this, so if Nic can't find a sculptor, maybe we can work something out with one of them. Perhaps the group can come up with its own master and contract with Eureka to mold and cast it. We have options there, methinks.

Thanks,
Andreas

Andreas

I'm not sure I gave you much to share with them really :) but by all means pass my comments on. I'm sorry I can't tell you more - especially as to whether Nic has spoken to any of our sculptors about 6mm yet. You'll have to wait a couple of weeks for an answer to that one. Nic should be back around 15th August.

John

So, a little while longer before we can see how it plays with the guy in charge.

Thanks for the update Jav.

There may not have been many specifics there, but at least we are seeing an attempt to keep Epic alive.  Even if it is just amoung the most devoted and loyal fans rather than those who should actually be doing it.
