I thought this would be better here than clogging up the epic 6mm board.

So... I've abandoned the War Griffons as my choice of titan legion (Hojyn's already doing too well with it :;): ), and I'm going with the Anargo Sector Project's Burning Lances (Legio Lancea).  I don't know if that's the finalised scheme, but it seems to have been pretty much accepted.

So, titans are fine.  How about the auxilia?

I don't know if the AdMech would completely paint their vehicles in the same livery as their titans; but at the other end of the scale, camo patterns don't strike me as something they'd do, either.

I'd like to tie them in with the parent legion, while offering a nod to RL tanks.  At the moment I'm thinking of grey or dark metal as the main colour, but I'm stalling at markings.  AdMech icons, certainly (decals, hopefully), but anything more?  Would tiny red-and-bone AdMech icons have much impact at that scale?
I notice that GW IG tanks (40K and epic) often have bright vertical stripes on their side hulls, but I haven't seen this in my limited experience of RL tanks.  (I've seen similar examples, though.  Flag colours on turrets)

Or I could still go full livery - I had thought of painting them AdMech red anyway.

Anyhoo.  This isn't just about how indecisive I am.  I'm interested to hear other thoughts on the subject.

How about the reverse color scheme with the light tan as the main colour and the admech red as the trimming and such?

I would either go with them in full livery or do a codex grey* with trim in livery colors.

*any generic, drab, generally military color, not just actual grey

Thanks  :)  ... and sorry for taking the wind out of your sails. Although the Burning Lances' colour scheme looks quite good too, and if you can paint half as well as you draw of sculpt (loved your Electro-priest!  :) ), this should be very nice once finished.

I would go with full livery. Flogus, my usual opponent, has painted his Titans in the same scheme as the rest of his army, and the result is really good in my opinion (you can have a look at it HERE).

I think an all-red (deep red, same colour as your Burning Lances Titan) AdMech army would be an impressive sight. Worth a picture or two and a post on this forum, for sure.  :D

Now I need to go strip a couple of titans. :p

Neal: I had thought of using shadow grey, or adding a little shadow grey.  Then I'd have a red tint, a yellow tint, and a blue tint.  S'a triad, innit?

Hojyn: "and sorry for taking the wind out of your sails"

No worries. :D
Yup, Flogus' army looks good.  Thanks for that.
I'm going with grey bases myself, which is why I thought of grey tanks (maybe no camo patterns, but...).
Which is also why I'm not convinced about bone.  Sorry Orangesm.

"...your Burning Lances Titan"

The linked pic?  Not mine, I'm afraid.  As for red, I had a look at the red DRM Pax vehicles on The Mercenary Brush, and wondered if it was a little too vibrant.

Also, in terms of background: would the AdMech feel it's right to fully paint up their common little tanks in the same colours as their god-machines?

I have a sneaking feeling I'd decided before I even started this topic. ???

I like the idea of a unified color scheme. That's what I've done with my Titan Legion, the Morning Stars. The titans are green and blue with white stripes. I painted the vehicles with the same green and blue (I decided to leave off the white stripe) and I'm in the process of painting the infantry the same way. At some point I will apply the appropriate Ad Mech decals to the vehicles and purity seals and banners to the titans

My AMTL will be the Legio Metalica (official one). As their main colour is red, I'm avoiding the said problem because red is a main colour of AM anyway, so red vehicles and infantry are not a problem.
I would say the Titans should usually have a different colour than the rest of the army. Army banners/symbols/colour stripes are one way to unify the scheme a bit.
Actually Knights should have a different scheme, too, if you are fielding them.

Agreed, knights come from households which strictly speaking are not part of a titan legion's TO&E.

More agreement here.  Eons ago I looked up the family coat-of-arms, to apply to my few knights.  I had planned to add the TL livery to one greave.

Knights serving as part of a troop levy could easily be painted temporarily in livery colors.  I think something like TL colors with, say, one of the greaves painted with the house colors/coat of arms would be fine.

If I ever assemble and paint my TL force, that's my plan.

I set out a DRM chasseur and hammerjack in front of me, and looked at them for a bit.  There're no obvious small areas to place a patch of livery, so I did a U-turn and now I'm painting them all red. :p  I'm off to start on my test chasseur now.
