I'm putting most of this stuff here at the request of Legion 4 as he has been such a great help to a newb like me.

I sometimes forget what a newb I am as I've been a full time nerd since I was a wee child. ?Just not involved with Epic. ?Closest I got was a few games of Space Hulk when I was in college.

There are a few picks of my WIP desert board. ?Designed mainly because a friend (and only Epic opponent) painted his IG in a desert scheme. ?I've decided to put this on the back burner as I promised myself instead of running 50 projects at a time, focus on one, currently Orks, and stick with it.

Bad pics of my completed Ash Waste board, made mainly so we could include either buildings or ruins.

Lastly there are some picks of some of my favorite MW vehicles and some mechs whose parts will eventually end up on my scratch built gargants.

I get to play MAYBE once every 2 months, but I'm more into the modeling aspect of the hobby anyway.

Hi Consectari!  I really like your terrain - very cool!  Inspired use of Random left over junk as buildings - I can tell you I do the same.  Thanks for the proxy shots, too - nice minis however you use them!

Of course, it's all WIP, except the AW board itself. ?It has 7 sections, 2'x2'. ?that way, you can rotate a section out and change things up a bit. ?

The river can be moved to the ends and virtually eliminate it from the game if so desired. ?

I made 2 flat boards with a total of 8 city blocks. ?I will have E:40k ruined buildings based seperately that can be placed there, or when they are completed, intact structures, depending on the game. ?

The last board I made was of course the best and was done after these pics were taken. ?One half is a bluff overlooking a ruined "suburban area" on the other half. The ruins were made of the small black plastic E:40k ruins, cat litter ?:p , and I put in a couple of demolished Micro Machine sized cars. ?I wish the rest had been up to it's level of quality.

Oh well, I can already tell the desert board is going to be better. ?A great place for my space lizards to battle my friends desert IG. ?

The desert board is all about blocked line of site, where as the AW board was more open. Though the AW has lots of flat spots where aditional terrain can be added .

I think this can be a great way to cap a wonderful army. Create the boards and army to match. Then the board doubles as a desplay for the minis as well if need be.

Well, I kind of did this backwards.

When I got into Epic, my friend DID already have his desert themed IG, but all I currently have is a prepainted Space Marine army (Salamanders or Dark Angels colors).

The thought of creating something like that was SO strong, I jumped ahead and did the board before I painted any armies.  Of course my Lizardman army is a new concept, so it just turned out to be a happy coincidence!

As a side note, my friend plays Necromunda, though I don't.

When I created the AW board, I made 6 sections scale neutral.

Roads become sidewalks and foot paths, bluffs become eye level cover.   Small buildings can cover multiple Epic sized city blocks on the flat sections.

Since he's kind enough to let me keep it as his house (where the game table is), I thought I'd make it useful to him in other ways.
