My wife, who loves me, but isn't a gamer, has asked me a question that is very plausable, but I can not confirm. ?Specifically, does anyone have multiple copies of the exact same army, but with different treatment on the bases, just so they can match the terrain of the board? ?

For example, does anyone have troops for grasslands (flocking), troops for urban areas (grey talus), and troops for desert (sand)?

The answer has got to be "yes", but is there anyone here willing to admit it?

I can honestly answer "No" to this question.

Nope is the short answer for me too though I do have three IG armies, a 'normal' IG, a pure steel legion type mechanised army and a PDF which can operate as either SL or Seigers, does that count?

Um... I'm not sure if you will count this or not.

Codex marines:  Temperate woodland basing.
White Scars:  Desert/ash waste basing.*

*planned.  I currently have 90% of the minis for this army and should begin assembly soon.

Yes- totally.
Actually just re-read the question and might have to change my answer. What do you mean by exact same army? Do you mean same list- i.e. several different IG armies but all using the Steel Legion List- then the answer is definitely yes.

If you mean exactly the same quantity of units and exactly the same units then the answer is probably no. I saw probably no because I COULD tailor my large Valhallan IG force to match exactly my smaller Tallarn & Cadian IG forces. I normally do keep them different though. Just for a bit of variety....
:D
Cheers

James

ermm I know I shouldnt answer this but...

I have enough marines for several chapters which I am slowly painting up and....

probably my worse confession which occurred before starting DRM miniatures is that I have two huge Tau armies of the same make up because I couldnt decide on which colours I wanted, the traditional vomit brown colours or the light and dark blue colours someone used a few years back on a 40k battlesuit in a Canadian gamesday.

I dont think I would go as far as different bases but I have purchased a lot and luckily my wife doesnt give me grief, I just show here what Primarch gets up to.... that helps a lot ?;)

I have seen that as well. On WWII troops to be exact.
