People rationalize many things and if you feel it is OK to do it, I can not stop you. ?:/

I just said I would not do it, for me stealing is stealing OOP or not.

What others do is up to them, I am talkingabout how I feel and how I elect to act.

dafrca

Actually, it is not theft... it is making an unauthorized copy. ?It's a different part of law, and there are positive defences that you can claim. ?Making a single reproduction for personal use in order to prevent wear-and-tear on an original (even if the original is still in print) is one (in the United States at least). ?Waiting for the copyright term to expire before making your copies is another. ?Misusing the two terms brings a load of emotional baggage and prejudices that makes it difficult to explain to people when things are "right" but illegal (sharing music) or "wrong" but legal (lobbying Congress and getting copyright extended for what is practically unlimited terms).

Mind you, I am with you for three reasons. ?First, I personally make a living on producing copyrighted material (computer programs, specifically). ?Second, I prefer people who have a "fair use" that they want to be legal to contact their legislators so that the rest of us can enjoy the same right. ?Third, if enough people want the mini badly enough, it (or some equivalent) will be reissued. ?Heck, Epic scale has come back from the dead twice.

Are the barrels plastic or paper?

Paper, off course!! that's why they looked so twisted at the epicompetition photo. I tried to make my papermodels complete, even with flying stand in the case of flyers... now that i think of it, i could have made the flying stands using a sheet of transparent plastic! now, if i could use some scissor...

Adrift 2+ hours away from the closest known regular Epic player. :-(

And for me, this is a greater problem then anybody recasting a mini.

We need to reduce the distance between players by quite a bit.

I agree, but I am not really willing to move any time soon. :-D ?Still, I don't mind driving 2-to-3 hours for a Saturday of gaming (and will occasionally drive longer distances and make a weekend of it).

Hi!

Amen. You can have loads of minis, but if you have few players, its a problem.  :(

Sad to say, with my work and family, my game time is very limited. So a 2 hour drive each way would kill most of my open game time.  :80:

But if you get to game, I can see the need to just do it once in a while.   :;):

Yep, been there a few times in my life. When I had loads of game time and lived in a place with tons of gamers, I had little money.  :D

Now I have the money and collection, I have little time and even less players.  :o0   :(

Someday I will get the balance right, I hope.

Hi,
I've been mulling this over and had a question.
If you just wanted to "game" epic you could use anything from bases to wooden pieces. Now, does it matter that you have 5 figures to a stand or that you had something representing a stand? If you're like me you want the visual aspect of the game but someone with a limited budget would rather just play a game for the that alone. Here is/was my idea of that...

Hi,
If you decided to go this route, you could add more to distinguish between stands by adding recognition symbols tac arrow, triangle for devs and crossed swords for assault.

I won't go that way.

This place is not quite spoiled with opponents, and to be honest, I can't really think of anyone around with E:A models... The club should have some, but I haven't seen any yet.

Not as nice as yours, but while we were doing the playtest, I used cardboard chits with unit's names written on them to test out things. That way I could make any combo I wanted and play with armies I did not own. Worked just fine.

Truth is, most Wargames are just board games with great looking boards and chits.

Oh and one other point, I know a person who plays WWII Micro Armor who uses GHQ vehicles and guns, but uses boardgame chits for his troops. Said he just did not want to paint the troops as they were just too fiddlie.

Hi,
Just an idea :) .
Of course with this, you could show up to a tournament and take your army out of your pants pocket :p

Dafrca, I have a buddy who does the same thing. He downloaded some pics and stuck them on square plastic bases.
