Great work! The prep phase is essential but can be tedious I find a "plan" always gets more productivity in the end too!

Ah, right. 14th or 15th would work better for me, too, as a matter of fact. And the addition of recovery vehicles is something I really approve of. I'm developing a 'new' line in 40K conversions now - I bought a 40K Piranha, but can't afford more - so I'll have fun with this very nice model and convert it to a reconnaissance version.
Must make something on these lines for Epic too...

Quote (MaksimSmelchak @ 23 April 2006 (07:25)) | *** Where did the recovery arm come from? *** | Hay Maksim,
It came from an old RAFM Heavy Gear called the Bricklayer. The Wench Spool came from a broken Matchbox car. The extra tire came from a bag of miscasts I bought from DLD. And of course the APC came from DLD.
Thanks

Quote (dafrca @ 22 April 2006 (23:52)) | No they are all 15mm. First, look at the shot with the two man tankettes, the resen is DLD and the metal is GZG. They are both about the same size.
True, Jon from GZG tends to make his vehicles small and his troops big. The troops he makes are really closer to 18mm then 15mm but that is another discussion. Lastly the APC is suppost to be a large beast. I think he was watching too many Marine landing vids when he made the APC. Scale size is closer to the US Marine AAV-7A1 then to a IFV.
The GZG APCs (small ones) claim to hold six to eight troops. I do not see how. The DLD one (Giant) claims to hold eight to ten troops. Looks like it to me.
This one is their Museum Scale versions. dafrca | Shoud have regonized the Meusum scal Mech. In that case it is a very nice addition.
I'm a little worried about the difference between the GZG stuff and the DLD stuff. I was hoping to able to use the three main manufactures. DLD, GZG, and Old Crow.
But the GZG tank looks like a tanket next to that APC. It just doesn't look right togethor.
I really wanted some of their grav designs but now I'm worried.
Once again thanks for the pictures. Do you got any other DLD stuff you can line up against those GZG vehicles.
Got any Old Crow stuff?

Got any Old Crow stuff? | Yep what you have spoken of is how most folks feel. The three you name are all good, but seem to follow different size attitudes.
DLD = slightly large, Old Crow = Center, GZG = slightly smaller. Now it is not that they do nto mix, but they do not scale well if you keep their "official" designations.
The only Old Crow I own right now if the Slammers stuff.
I will try and shoot some photos for you and see if they help.
I also have a DLD tank I have not assembled yet (my day ran out before my kits did ) but I will try and get it done as well.
dafrca
p.s.: did you see my photo of the Heavy Gear?

It is skinny, true, but the funny thing is, it is not 6mm. This one is their Museum Scale versions. I do not know if they gave an exact scale, but it is almost twice the size of the original. So it is at least 10mm if not 12mm scale.
I found a photo of another of the Museum scale mechs (Mad Cat) next to the original scale for you to see below:
>>I look forward to seeing these primed.
Yep that is my next phase. Then on to painting. I will get things done this year!
dafrca | Stunning paint jobs there!! Put WK pre-painted mechs to shame.
Cheers
James
