World Eaters

Hi!

I developed World Eaters list with help of couple friends(mainly tneva82).

Atlast I got it to version 1.0 and thought that maybe you are interested in helping me to create balanced Berzerker Horde to roam Epic battlefields.


I hope you like or if not then I would like to hear/read why. So I much appreciate constructive criticism and comments about the list.

Looks pretty good!

Some questions:

I like the mechanics for bloodrage, although it's a bit Orky. Are you sure you want cultists to have the same initiative as Marines? And what about titans and aircraft.

I'm a little concerned about the rule that each kill removes a BM - it seems powerful!

Why only FF of 5+ for the bikers?

Can we make Kannons -> Cannons and leave the misspelling to the Orkz?

I am interested by your choice to include mutants, cultists and raged citizens (I like the last one especially!)... However, for a real World Eaters army, do they really fit? As the Cultists of Goredom they are fine, mind...

So... have you tried these rules out then?

I know it's bit Orky but well Berzerkers are like Orks exept they like killing part more than mere fighting.

As for your concern about cultists: This is still version 1.0 so tehre is still much to be improved. One thing is initiative of cultist and Aircraft. I meant to include Aircraft in the +2 modifier for ground attack and interception, but forgot it :D I'm not sure about the cultist. Mainly both Berzerkers and Cultist are driven by the same rage against everything living so it could explain it. But still there is good point. MAybe giving Cultist a initiative 4+ with Blood Rage.

I now that removing BM with kills in Close Combat seems bad, but I've tried to make it up with point costs and after all CC isn't that popular choice. I would like to say that it is like Tyranids Unstoppable, it is powerful but not overpowered as you can "easily" just avoid Close Combat. Who in the first place would want to challenge bunch of crazy killers who wave their axes maniacly in close combat?(Note that FF doesn't count CC kills!)

Bikers - My agenda was +1CC and -1FF as it would make World Eaters(Cult of Gore) more like CC army and you can probably imagine that those bikers are likely to be so frenzied that their eyesight isn't the best or something like that. Still their FF is quite good.

Kannon -> Cannon. I like to writa it Kannon as it sounds and looks better with Khorne :D

Tneva82 expressed his concern about those cultist so I'm quite aware of it's unfluffiness. I thought to make Special Units section as Cultists and put mutants and cultist under it and maybe put something like 25% limit to them. And as for their "fluff" I like to see them as variation of flagellants who see their doom coming and them turning against everyone around.

I have not yet tested these rules in practice and I would really appreciate some help in testing them. I have two Chaos players around here and I can use my marines as traitors so I'm able to test these rules max. two times per month as I still live so far away from Helsinki which is our main gathering city.

Good job!
Just 2 remarks:
- I would include cultists and thing like that later or separate from the army first (even if I like them), to stick with the concept of marine legions. ( IMHO world eaters should not have more connections with cults than thousand sons or black legion )
-in the BL list, all affiliated marines have fearless. It's nice in the BL list, but because of that I fear that all the affiliated chaos legions will look a bit too close...

I will concur with previous coments on Cultist having the same initiative as marines, separating the two as well. How did you come up with CC 2+ for Bezerkers and Chosen, surly if they are Khornes chosen they will not have reapers at all. I like to Blood rage, however I agree on the BM part of it. And have you had a crack with this yet.

So it seems that most(infact all of you :D ) of you don't like Cultist at all(in World Eaters list) so maybe I'll just make a separate Cult of Gore list for Cultists.

Berzerkers and Chosen have CC2+ because Berzerkers have it in the BL list and well what would Chosen be if they were worse in CC than normal Khorne Berzerkers? I dropped Chosens FF value so they wouldn't be good in both CC and FF and kept Reapers as in my opinion they should have some long range weaponry. Maybe one would be enough, but then again they should be cheaper or have some other nice thing.


I'll try to make few changes today so stay tuned.
Playtesting this list comes closer day by day. Now a friend of mine is trying to get his hands on nice package of Chaos stuff and he is willing to sell it's Khornate and Nurglish contents to me! So I'll get Lord Of Battles and some Khorne tanks! \o/

First game with this list could be tomorrow if I'm "lucky" enough :oops:

Ok I made new 1.1 version which mostly is same as 1.0 but:
1) Cultists are now gone and they will make their own force as bad Berzerkers didn't want to play with them *sob*
2) Blood Rage now includes aircraft
3) Kannon of Khorne is Cannon of Khorne from now on

Oh and I'm going to test these rules next wednesday or thursday. That is 19. or 20. day.

Any suggestions? Tzeench are pretty much stuck with Fearless. The Emperor's Children, again, it would be inappropriate if they weren't fearless.

So do you think that Nurgle and Khorne really shouldn't be Fearless? What do you suggest to represent how insane or bloated they are?

So I didn't get a chance to play with them as I only got chance to one game and I didn't want to play with these against beginner like my opponent so soon. But next time I will take World Eaters to test and thats a promise!

But as for the list: I did some thinking and pondered what is the fluff base for the CC casulty takes away blast markers and I didn't really get any so off it goes.

As I noticed that now their ability to get rid of their blast markers was really bad(3+ Initiative! -1 if they had enemies within 30cm and -2 if broken!) so I came up with something to help their situation and that is: +1 if there is enemies within 30cm of the formation attempting the rally. This rule replaces the -1 modifier from if there is enemies within 30cm of the formation. So now they have even slight chance to get rid of their blast markers.

What do you think?
