With the EoT campaign coming up, and the fact that Maugan Ra seems to be heavily involved, I was wondering if anything interesting was going to happen with him.

As far as I'm concerned, Maugan Ra is probably the poorest Pheonix Lord.  It would be a simple fix too.  Make him able to move and fire his Shuriken Catapult.  Considering his character, I would have thought this ability would be obvious.  Then again the stats for the Pheonix lords were wrote early on, when there wasn't so many rock hard characters around, and hardly anyone had a invulnerable save.  Now, invulnerable saves seem to be growing in number.

I think I've started rambling.  Basically I'm at work and bored.  :l

I dont see how much could actually happen to him. He wont be able to do a lot on his own, but at the same time we know that the Phoenix Lords cant actually die. I would guess that he was mostly included as a counterpoint to Typhius (sp?), as a commander in the web.

Maugen Ra is the Eldar Dark Reaper Exarch, right?

How do we know that Phoenix Lords can't die, Cyber-Shadow?

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Phoenix Lords have a mini-infinity circuit within their suit. When they die, their essence is absorbed by the suit. Then when someone else puts on the suit, they become part of it. The prominant essence is that of the first and greatest Exarch to wear the suit. Which is why it's always said to be Maugan Ra, rather than the most recent Exarch.

...Or even just touch the suit, there was a great little story in WD ages ago which had a Ranger discovering the forgotton suit of Karandras I think it was, touching it, and getting taken by the infinity circuit within to be the next 'incarnation', as it were... :)

I remember that story, it was a good un.

It was a Striking Scorpion Exarch in his shrine.  A portal opened up into his shrine and through stepped Karandras, mortally wounded.  The Exarch leant forward to pick him up (I think) and was drawn into the suit.  Thier memories combined as one.  He remembers his own early thoughts and then Karandras'. From fighting the fallen one shortly after the fall, to the battle where he was just mortally wounded.  He then gets up, and goes to warn the Farseers of the craftworld of the impending doom on the system.

They could have the suit destroyed or at least its integrated infinity circuits. Maybe they decided they needed a fall guy amongst the Phoenix Lords to keep things interesting and choose Maugan Ra?

Maybe. But also, how many Phoenix Lords will be there at the Rhana Dandra (sp)? All of them? In which case, I guess none can die.  :D

I got the eye of terror codex yesterday.  Maugan Ra can be used without opponents permission!  Interesting.

Yep, all the pheonix lords are there for the Rhana Dandra, so if that is true, none of the known ones will die.  There are more Pheonix Lords, however, that aren't known.

I wish they'd bring out a Warp Spider one.

I personaly think Maugan Ra is in the EoT camaping for this reason:-

Should Eldar "take back" one of thier home systems from the eye, Maugan's craftworld will be rediscovered, having not been distroyed as thought, just sucked into the eye. The result, being the sysnic I am, will be a lot of new Maugan Eldar Craftworld minitures to go along with the couple of new ranges alread made, such as the Steal legion, salamanders, black templars etc.. hummm.... skully eldar anyone?

Also, call me the synic, but, am I the only one that thinks this whole EoT campaing is an attempt to kill of, or place chaos on the back burner? I've never got the feeling the new managment at GW have ever liked the whole idea of chaos since they took over a few years back...

On a side note, I'm tyred of all this Imperium under threat thing in both EoT and Armaggedon 3.... I personaly will, should the next campaing not be an Imperial crusade, go to GW and stomp some 'umies!

as an old-timer I have the opposite feeling that Chaos has grown both in popularity and in terms of models

there seem to be more Army Books and Codices relating to Chaos then a few years back

Chaos takes up a large proportion of the GW stores near me

I may be wrong and you may be right
