Hi all,
Forgeworld have a new lander for the Imperial Navy:
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/arvusl.htm
The Arvus lighter shouldn't be too difficult to scratch for Epic - a small Lander, perhaps.

(thinks) (yes, it happens on occasion) (  :p  ) I wonder if an Epic Navy list would work - Navy landers, Navy fighters, aerial bombardment, landing parties... ummm.

Is it just me, or does it look Star Wars-ish?

That I dont like! It looks like the wings would actually flap when it takes off!  :D  And I would feel very vulnerable as the pilot.

No similar thoughts went through my mind.

Lets hope FW will continue their recent good habits of releasing 40k sclae models in Epic scale.

Cheers

James

My first thought was Starship Troopers

You have my attention now...

No reason it shouldnt work.  Lots of air and orbital cover.  And boarding parties wouldnt be too dissimilar to Assault troops.  It would be a specialised force with no armour (maybe some bikes?) but would have a lot of flavour.

Hmmm.....  :/

Stormtroopers?
And no I don't mean the guys in white armour

"Arent you a little short for a stormtrooper?"  :D

No...Assault troopers, the old SM2 era ones

Possibly some robots too - they could be stored more easily onboard the Ship.  As could rapiers and the like.   Though we are getting very old school now

Ships have Commissars and tech-adepts too so they could be landed with the sailors.

There was some good Naval Landing party action in the first BFG Novel

I like it ... hope they make it in Epic Scale ... looks like it could make a nice Lt. Dropship/Lander/Utility craft/vessel ! :D ?Kind of reminds me of a CH-47 ! Or even a UH-60 ! :o0

Oh dear, too much on my plate at the moment Tas - which means, of course, yes (anyway, I can never have too many projects running at any one time,be they models or otherwise).
And on the condition we get to include an Enginseer  :p
Expecting your email.

Hehe, nice Star Wars reference, Tas.  :p

I really like your idea. Old assault troopers with bikes, robots, dreads, rapiers, tarantulas, etc. Given the lack of armor, it might have a tough time against certain armies, but it would be an interesting army list, nevertheless.
