I am a confirmed fluff-o-phile too and would much rather have a fluff pure army and lose, than have a cheezy one and win all the time.
I guess everybody here likes fluff to some degree, otherwise you wouldnt bother with epic and play another 6mm game with cheaper minis and more realistic games mechanics (like Dirtside for example). Same deal for escapism- you cant wargame without it. And lets face it, I think we have all repainted, rebased, reorganised and replanned our armies far far more often than played with them. After all you can do it with no notice, by yourself, and regardless of wife/kids requirements! And its makes it far more fun when you do get around to playing with them

Hi!
It seems that many of us like to write "fluff" about the 40k background. Its extremely entertaining. I wonder if we should pool all that stuff we inevitably create somwhere for all to view and enjoy. I'm pretty sure mostly everyone has thought or written down a short story or two.

That is a strange point. There is a story section of www.epic40k.co.uk that I thought would be really popular, but only has a couple of pieces in it (and another on the way). I went through a short story writing phase recently, but I am happy to grab any short stories, and I am sure that the other sites are as well. So, send them in. I would rather these fiction pieces were sitting somewhere than no-where!

I've been building models since I was 10 or so. I have a large HO/OO scale WWII forces collection for wargaming, relegated to storage, now.  And I am frequently reorganizing my TO&Es with the addition of new models and rule changes ... it's all part of the fun !

Ciurrently, it has a grand total of two stories, with a third to be added next update (which is on its way... honest! )

Well, got tired of looking at my IG army. Solid silver (bare metal) just didn't look good.
So I sent off two tank companies to a local painter. Now I just have to motivate myself to paint some of the artillery...
