but if they are as big as I hope then I think there's two main advantages: 1: durability and 2: storage as i suspect they're hollow so you can stack them W/O too much trouble.

Cheers!  :)

Come to think of it I guess you get the two halves shown in the pic. ... They also look a lot like the ones included in the BOFA boxed game. If so they have an excellent size...

Cheers! :)

Hi Stormseer,

I got a little worried after you posted on my blog and then didn't follow up. I'm OK with Dan Abnett... just tossing out a bit of constructive criticism.

Speaking of hills: I noticed that GW sells ready made plastic hills for ?15. Call me lazy but I'm seriously considering getting some. My old ones are crumbling and it always make such a mess to build new ones.

I've also had hills crumble before...

Ive done a couple of things to preserve my hills and I no longer have that problem...

- Base all of my hills on plasticard or 1/8" fiberboard sheet.
- Make a PVA (white glue) water slurry and paint that on the foam.
- Paint a thick layer of cheap latex house paint on my hills.

They no longer wear out.

Another thing I've done before is to bulk up an area with bathroom tile caulk.

I've seen them, but I couldn't give you exact measurements.

I was hoping they were at least something like 50x25 cm...
Cheers! :)

I beleive they were much smaller.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

As a starter you should do the Brown ones. It's a middle colour, you could expand to forest or to city.

Maybe I wasn't that clear.

I have built ALL of the terrain maps I mentioned in my post!

Haha, maybe I wasn't that clear, but my answer on wich board should be done was directed at Black Legion! :;):

I truly believe you builded all these things!

Come come Warmaster, this is heretical talk for a great modelmaker such as yourself!

Prepared to pay ?15 for two unexciting plastic hills when you could build some bigger, better, more natural looking ones for about ?1?!!  :p

I agree with you on the storage issue (if they stack that is?), but otherwise, your arguement is on shaky ground....

I agree with Maksim here- just get them on a decent base (MDF is my personal preference), and paint them with a few thick tough coats, and you'll have no problems...  :8):

Now I REALLY need to do an Incoming! article on the whole lot- but this a quick and easy question to answer.
Very simply Maksim; all I do is stick a load of them in some spare foam offcuts so I can hold them, then get out a reasonably sized brush and some cheap white primer, and carefully brush  down from the top to the bottom, to get a 'snowladen' effect.

This lets me get loads done at once, and makes these rather cheap & cheerful -(25p each and horribly shiney and unrealistic when unpainted)- little trees look really natural and effective.  :8):

Cheers, ~G
