Whenever I have used 5mm MDF it has warped.
My recent photographic tiles used MDF and they both warped which I expected and it wasn't a problem as they are only used for photographs and the warp won't matter.
The reason why MDF and card warp is that the glue and plaster shrink as they dry, causing the base to warp.
