My best ones seem to be for BFG, and I've little to no proper experience with Epic, probably best it goes to someone more skilled in this domain.

I have three finshed awaiting proofreading by a friend (and  scenario tested again as I'm still not sure about it :) ) :) tis all go here.
I reckon a tac multimelta stand would read CC4+, FF4+, Multimelta, range 15cm, 5+MW, Smallarms MW.
Is that a fair straight swap do ya reckon? How many would want it?

For my Salamanders i surely would want it! :D
And yes, it is a fair swap. Lower range in exange for more firepower.

Provisionally it sounds good to me too. Again, a reasonably fair swap as I see it(range for power at close range).

It might even add a bit of edge to Marines(by not wasting a ton of (not really very potent)long range fire by getting in close).

I've done this before ... cut the bottom of an old Epic Banner pole base and glue it to the barrel of the weapon you want to convert ... easy and I have beaucoup of'm !  And we still use flags on all our CMD Stands (old School) !   :D

Hi all

Well I made it safely to the other end without any dramas. The thread seems to be going well. I like all the discussion to date about the various topics. I think that we need to push hard to get a dread formation out of the ERC. I also like the idea of changing it to an Inf unit to stop it being an easy target for big AT weapons.

As far as these variant heavy weapons go, I would hope that FW see the need for some Mk VII Devastators with some more characrter to them. I would like to see them equiped with Heavy Bolters, a new Missile Launcher, Laser Cannon, Plasma Cannon and a Heavy Flamer/Melta Gun. And here we can come up with some reasonable stats for them. Give Devs a distinct feel in the game. Mix and match their firepower within the squad to give them an effective mix of AT/AP. I know that this is already featured in their valuse but I like some variety in my models.

Two days to go know till i get my house and all my stuff comes out of storeage. I spent up large on paint in the Brisbane GW store in preparation of a long summer creating my Blood Ravens Chapter. Starting with a Lorn V Task Force.

Thanks for you efforts so far, keep it coming.

Cheers
CAL

P.S Hey CS is this enough to get a Marine specific area yet?

No, dreads should be AV/Walkers.  They are horribly vulnerable to AT fire (I'm seriously considering painting a bull's-eye on my 40k dreads, they die so fast :/ ).

I definitely think the Multimelta Devastators are a needed improvement to the Marines vis a vis AMTL forces.

There is a definately a hole in the background concerning dreads.

IMHO ?, either there should be a special transport vehicle (SHT ?), or they should only be deployed as the armour support for airborne assaults (in T-hawks or drop pods.)

Because they move so slowly , they cannot keep up with a fast moving mechanised force like the SM's.
So there is a hole in the fluff. ???

A small formation of dreads(4) seems about right. Now, they are noted as 'supports' for things, but that doesn't mean, to me at anyrate, that they are formed up with them.

A straight formation seems the best option IMO.

Hail and well met, Zak!  Good to 'see' you!

(Looks like you lurk around here, and don't post much)

Well, IIRC, the Land Raider Spartan was able to transport one dread per, but that was many moons ago.

Well, if the IA3 fluff is accurate, the Marines only fought 3-4 times in 90 days of combat, as well as the initial assault.  The initial assault was by drop-pod (and had a couple Dreads), the isthmus attack was at a walking pace so that dismounted infantry (and, coincidentally, dreads) could keep up, and the last action was the Marines holding the LZ so the Guard could be extracted, where dreads could support pretty well.

I certainly lurk around here a lot more now (rather than the new SG site.)

But mainly as i find myself drawn more to playing Epic at divisional level. (see "Other Epic and Titan games" if you think i don't post much !). :D

When i get round to basing my SM (for Warhead)  , the Land Raider Spartan will be the way to go...Thanks. :;):

First i have to finish the IG and Chaos.

The Isthmus action seems to be using Dreads as i thought , as armoured support for an airborne insertion...interesting.

Merry Christmas to you all

I have made it into my new house and everything arrived OK. It seems that we got a collective Christmas gift in the new EA Astates section, cheers to the powers that be for that.

The discussion keeps going about dreads, I see that there is another on SG that is going quite well. I think though that it need to be moderated and the ideas cut down to a short list. I will have a crack at it here and list our options/opinions here.

Cheers and have a great day

Agree ... Dreads are too slow and would best be deployed by Drop Pods/ships, T/hawks, etc.  And BTW, I made 2 L/Rdr Spartan conversions, and IIRC they were designed as Terminator transport. But I think making them or even L/Rdrs Dread Transport (1 or 2 per) ... is a good idea !  :;):
