Hi guys,
the Battle of the Bulge was just staring in Belgium 61 years ago today. Spare a thought for those who took part.

Indeed I shall.

I visited many of the primary battle sites a few years ago and the memorial at Bagstone is excellent

Yes, I was going to mention it but had to go to the gym to fight my own Battle of the Bulge !   But seriously, I routinely look at my calendar from a  Veteran's organization that lists many critical battles ... And my father was WIA with the 90th INF DIV. during the Lorraine Campaign ... And every time I go to the VA clinic or hospital ... I see and think about those people who took part, in many wars ... most Americans I know, have no idea.  But that's O.K., I remember ... I know ...

You got that right, Tas !  :;): The 101 holding Bastogne was one of the turning points of the battle !  However for  complete historical accuracy, at the time, my Rgt, the 187, was part of the 11 ABN Div. in the PI.  And in Feb.'45 took part in the liberation of Manila !  The 187 didn't become part of the 101 until Vietnam. And was a separate ABN RCT during Korea  ... so like I said  I remember ... I know ...  :;):

Hi!

That is an interesting "what if" moment.

What would have happened if the germans had reached their strategic goal?

I think it would only have prolonged the war.
