I am taking a break from retro sci-fi for now (I have read all I brought with me!) and am now into Dan Abnett's "Double Eagle"

Hi,
Finally at the end of Band of Brothers, having read it along with watching the DVD. A good read as most of you probably already know.
In SFX magazine this month, they have reviews for two new Dark Future books, "Demon Download" and "Golgotha Run". I'm gonna have a look for these this week for my next reads.
Cheers, Freshmetal

"Band of Brothers", is an Epic in both print and flim ! But being a former member of the 101 ... I'm biased !

I'm halfway through Alfred Bester's classic "The Stars My Destination," which really seems deserving of its reputation, I would happily recomend it...

well , maybe isn't a novel, but cornellius Ryan's "a bridge too far" is a very interesting book to base for a campaign begin.
another titles:
cold war - Ronald E. Powaski Stralingrad - Anthony Beevor
If you want a novel....
the best (IMHO) Farenheit 451 (I wanna be a bomber!) or Starshiptroopers (robert A heinlein).
I love read

Hi Guys,
I'm reading Jerry Pournelle's "Birth of Fire." Great novel. I think I must have read it five or six times over the years by now.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

And Starship Troopers is a "must read" for all sci-fi fans.

Hi Guys,
I finished the Pournelle novel and have retuned to reading Jarred Diamond's "Guns, Germs and Steel." It's a fantastic book if a little heady at times. Of course, that makes sense for Diamond who is an academic and a scientist.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. | I can honestly say that Guns, Germs and Steel is one of the best books I have ever read in my entire life. Diamond does a superb job in explaining the disparity of technological advance in different cultures. I've only read it once, but I know already that this is one of those books I will read again and again.
