Hmmm....in simple monster vs monster games, ie, no army units, the game is pretty balanced. But when the army shows up, things get wonky. Because there is no reason to fight each other, the monsters gang up on the humans....even though they are not allied. Kinda a gap in the rules... since there is nothing that says you Have to attack the monster instead of an army unit. Opinions? Rants? Raves? Pickle on a stick?

True....
I play that you must "honour the threat" that is most dangerous. ?Usually, this means another Kaiju unless he is along way away or out of LOS. ?This gives those pesky humans the chance to close in and take a few cheap shots while the Kiaju is distracted by another beast. ?When that beast is down, or out though...its stomping time!
The only exception we really play is for Super Weapons or a massed barrage that does lots of damage and gets the attention of the Kaiju, whereupon it becomes a priority target
Hope that helps! ?Interested in yout thoughts

Hmmmm....that is an interesting rule, but generally when fighting the army, the monster players just want to kick the stuffing out of tanks and such. ( Guilty! ) We have toyed with the idea of having a monster 'ally' with the human army, facing off two other monsters, or even a face off between two armies with thier human allies!
What do you think about that?

Hi Ib,
I think that the "ally" option is vital to making good scenarios. However, give each player a mission before the game and you've solved the problem.
Godzilla, for instance, may be a "defender" of humanity because he's afraid to hurt his little friend "Timmy" and his puppy "Skippy."
A good background solves the "random violence" default tht many players have. Type up a background sheet with a mission motivation and goals specified for each player. It really enhances the game.
- Nature monsters always want to destroy the factory... - Nature monsters want to save the virgin forests... - Sea monsters want to destroy the fishing fleet... - Reptile monsters have a thing for the herpetology exhibit at the zoo... - Flying monsters are tired of that pesky airport putting up flying annoyances...
A little thought invested in the motivations of your monsters can really enhance a game.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

A hideously mutated Science Graduate who had an issue with the increase of the (compulsory) Student Union fees

Hmm...yeah that would work nicely. Nice idea, Maksim. The random violence thing was really a factor in the last game, which featured 2 monsters vs me with the army. One of the monsters took most of the damage (and trashed most of my army in the process) while the other laid back and harassed my poor commuter train. (we have a special rule that if you sucessfully 'grab' a car off the train, you can shake it and see how many civillians come out ). Only near the end did the other monster attack the army. I think next game we will use missions.

Oh, by the way, has anyone been able to sucessfully protect your scientist? Mine got eaten before he could finish his work... On the other hand, my jump pack troopers were well worth the points, harassing the #$#@ out of the monsters.
