I've just got my Tombship that I won on ebay, cost me about ?7 including P&P.

Now my question is, how do GW justify the price of this.  Just because it's a battleship I can't see any justification for the price their charging.

It's not like you get alot for your money, you get more with the Grand Cruiser and that's half the price.

i can understand for a Chaos or Imp BB, but come on this is ridiculous.

If I didn't know anything about GW and I'd have bought this for my kid I would be very annoyed to say the least.

Anyway, i just think it's time we got a more realistic pricing system.  It should be what it's worth not what it's worth in the actual game.

Anyway, that's my rant over with... It is a nice little model :)

I will now sit back and wait for inevitable second rant when you try to put this beast together and make it sit on top of the flying base...  ???  I warn you, this is a real feat of engineering.

A lot of the prices of Gothic vessels are a little off. Escorts are not too badly priced, and cruisers are a little over priced but not too bad. As you go up the scale, the price gap becomes greater and greater... until you get to the Kroot Warsphere!

I was wondering when someone would mention a ship from the Tau fleet in a discussion like this...

It says a lot when the resin (and in my humble opinion, far nicer) Tau ships are for the most part cheaper than their metal equivalents (The Custodian is actually cheaper than that horrible Explorer fig!) and as regards alien auxilia, why anyone would spend 30 sterling on a warsphere when you can have a Demiurg Stronghold for 25 or 2 Bastions for 15 is beyond me...

Hi!

I think some of the BFG prices are truely unrealistic, way too much. On many occasions I have felt like started to collect them, but always balk on the price.

But most of them are still reasonably priced imo... for GW products :;):

A fleet can be built for a FRACTION of the cost of a 40k army, even more cheaply than Epic armies.

Currently, I think that the 'over priced' minis are the exception to the game rather than the standard. However, prices are creeping up steadily and that is certainly not a good thing.

The odd vessel is too expensive (such as the Warsphere, and the Tau SG vessels), but generally the prices are not too bad (Escorts work out at about the same price as competitors such as Ground Zero when comparing similarly sized ships).

Just to chime in on the prices, I dont think GW are 'too' bad either. They compare OK with Mongoose's B5 ships, GZG's ships, and certainly not badly against the smaller companies such as Brigade (Ive now exhausted all the companies I regularly buy spaceships from :D ).

Having received at least 5 orders from each of the above, and fewer from other companies, I can say that as a whole GW seems to have superior casting quality too. The ships may be a pain to put together sometimes, but they are rarely miscast, and they will replace those that are (I should point out that the above companies will replace damaged ships too...). Mongoose have received some hefty critisicm for some poor casts, and GZG often use molds far too long and what should be smooth surfaces become horribly pitted and uneven.

That Warsphere is a bit daft tho', just how big is it? ???

I think on the whole BFG models are better value for money than eny of the other ranges.
Nec ships are a tad expensive for the amount of metal used to make them, on the plus side they are even more expencive points wize so you dont need many models to make a powerful fleet.

Actually in terms of "bang for your buck" space ship miniatures I'd recommend checking out "Cold Navy" from:

http://www.xtreme-hobby.com

I picked both Terran and Mauridian fleets up not too long and IMNSHO the sculpts and the casts are *nice*. :blues:

And when you can get a 4" long battleship for $10 USD... :D  :D

Frankly between the service and the sculpts I really can't say enough nice about them.
