Yes, that is the way I see it, too. The Manta is the Tau Titan equivalent ...

Hi guys,
I need to set up an Ork army for my mate to play with against my Dark Angels . In the interests of fairness I thought I would get your help, in case I got accused of being bias. I have almost all the miniatures in the range, so models aren't an option. (and of course the report will be submitted to Incoming!)
It will be a standard tournament game against 2700 points of marines, the player is a newbie to EPIC (although has wargamed for over a decade with me). The battle is on sunday, I am not sure what i'll be taking, but might use this opportunity to try out all the units I haven't used yet .
Tom.

Well could I recommend the following
1. Great Gargant (incl. Warlord) (Most Expensive) ? 850pts 2. Big Warband Plus 1 extra Ork and Grot ? 375pts 3. Big Warband ? 350pts 4. Warband Plus Flakwagon & 4 Battlewagons ? 375pts 5. Blitz Brigade 1x Flakwagon, 2 x Gunwagons & Oddboy Supa-Zzapp Wagon ? 200pts 6. Blitz Brigade 1x Flakwagon, 2 x Gunwagons & Oddboy Supa-Zzapp Wagon ? 200pts 7. Kult of Speed 8 x Bikes ? 200pts 8. Stormboyz ? 150pts
It will give a good feel to several elements of the army and the GG will certainly give your marines a few problems
I also found a list very similar to this surprisingly successful at the WPS Club Challenge in 2004.

Looks good to me , just gotta figure out how to crush it with my marines now :S, fighting Orks is radically different from Tau bashing.

I have great problems playing with Marines and am one of the crowd that think that they are not really a tournament army in their current condition.
