Hey were not talking about personal sized pizza's or even the normal pizza's we're talkin' the big family sized pizza :O  (This looks likes an eating emotiocon).

Got a big family, ya get lotsa Pizzas for a while, otherwise invite some friends over for Pizza for the next month or so, shouldn't take too long :D

But, seriously. I went to a local Pizza place and asked him if I could buy some of the Pizza Boxes he uses for his large Pizzas, he charged me a buck and a half and I got ten.
My Ork Horde is my biggest single collection, they can field four Uge Warbands, and five Big Warbands, with some Boyz and Nobz left over, two Big KOS with enough left over for a normal, around sixty plus Gunwagonz, 9xBattlefortreses, 9xGunfortresses, 12xStompas, 20xDreads, 24xBoarboyz, 48xWartrukks, 20xBattlewagonz, 15xBig Gunz, and about 16xWildboyz. This whole mess fit into two of those big Pizza boxes, really.

For the Titans I made a Special Box, I added cardboard walls to the inside sides of a Pizza Box, to give it more depth, cut the lid off and then glued the sides of the lid together, this makes the top for the Box, and then made compartments as explained above. So all my Titans are standing nice and snug in their own foam padded compartments. (Which is very similar to the padded cell, I mean room, I sleep in

For all my armies I ended up using twelve boxes, and they are housed in two of the carry all boxes.

The whole Idea got started when my Boss bought a couple of extra large Pizzas for us for completing a job a month ahead of schedule. I took out my tape measure and got the dimensions before I went home, did a bit of math, wham happy camper a month later.

Just trying to help, but somehow this has turned from a "Spice" post to a Hobby post. I think that's why I like this place :p

Jaldon,

You are about to really get an idea how sick some of us are.  :;):

I was talking about the large boxes as well. Anything less would be silly in my mind. No better then what I have now.

Orks happen to be my smallist collection and I have slightly less then the number in your "largest" collection so in the end my guess of one box may have been too little.

My IG is my largest and I have more the 46,000 points in it alone. Not counting Titans. I have 51 Super Heavies for example. I have 12 Mec-Infantry Companies and a few more non-mecinized Infantry Companies.

In any case, your ideas are sound and make sense. If I did not already have the money spent in the boxes I am using, the Pizza Box idea would work just fine.

As for the names and "character" idea, it too is a good idea. Just not one I am going to implement right now. Maybe later when things get fully painted.  :;):

This is something that I had already decided to do halfway. I have a little of most armies, but one or two are my 'personal favourites', where it is interesting to track their progress. When I play a game with these forces, I track how the various units do through the game, and just keep a record of their progress and ability as I go along. Nothing fancy, no extra modelling, but it does help the formations achieve a bit more personality.

Hi Guys,

I've found that storage, as Jaldon says, makes a huge difference to gaming.

Storing an army together while it is in project stage makes it much easier to return to.

Once the army is painted and finished, I also find that storing it together really helps.

My armies start out on cheap 5.7 liter / 6 quart Dollar Store shoe boxes and graduate to Plano fishing tackle boxes as time passes.

Jaldon's pizza box idea is a good one.

As Iain / CyberShadow has mentioned, keeping a record with an army really helps to give that army color and eventually help you to create a story for the army.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Yep, I think we all agree that storage is inportant. I also believe that the easy to use storage ideas are the best. That is why I said I liked his Pizza Box idea.

By the way, there is a guy on TMP who sells pizza boxes with foam linners for about $10 each right now. It is a good idea.

One thought, Jaldon, why not take some pictures of your boxes and share them as well.

I know I would share then in some of the Yahoo groups I am on.

Sometimes Pictures sell an idea better then words.

Sorry Gentlement, had to go to Nihau for the last two days and just got back, no phone lines on that island cell and radio only.

dafrca, 51xIG SHTs, man we gotta talk about this obsession of yours I know this really good shrink. He'll turn you from this :-:  to this :O  Myself I am still trying to figure out if this is an improvement.

I thought I was bad cause I had twelve SHTs, whoa boy you really are a sick man. I almost hate to ask, but are they all painted?

As I am still waiting for the pics from home on Marvin, the Pizza boxes will have to wait till I get home. At this rate maybe Marvin too.

My wife just bought the camera, and my son said he is still trying to figure it out himself, must be cause the pics he did send me looked UGH, blurry, fuzzy, could hardly tell what it was.

When I get them I'll post them in the modeling section, OK?

In the latest set of pics from THE Primarch there were 20 superheavy tank companies. That's 60 superheavy tanks and it is just a (small?) part of his IG tank corps.  :O

OK, Jaldon, you win. I have given my Valkryies a name. The Red Knights. Now they are not painted Red, but I did have the painter add a Shield marking on them. They will be tracked as a Formation and as they preform I will keep track of them. Let's see how this goes.

:D

My Imperial Navy Lightning Fighters are from VF-143 "Puking Dogs" Squadron.

A few of my USN buddies served with this Squadron and I have operated with them before:

Starting small is a good move, as it gives you a chance to see if you really like the entire concept, or not, before you invest a lot of work into doing more.

When you find out you like it, don't dive in head first, instead build on the entire concept slowly, just as you have started.

Good luck, and I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as those of us who are already doing it. :D

Don't worry, if you don't :{ , I'll understand :;):

Jaldon :oo
