Okay me and a friend have been sort of starting off this crazy idea of creating a game which revolves around the combat between Knights. We will include 4 armies to start with (Orks, Eldar, Humans and Chaos), we wil create mods for 40k and Epic.

Check here: http://gargantklub.proboards15.com/inde ... ard=knigam

Malika,

I am not understanding, what will this game offer that the present systems do not?

What did the 'Bombers of Sulfer River' (spelling?) minigame not offered what the Epic game did? It's simply the same game, but a certain type of minigame, focussed on a certain aspect. So for example BoSR was revolved around aircraft warfare. This thing of ours is revolved around battles between Knights, we want more Knight vs Knight battles and the 'lists' will be focussed on that, hence things such as normal infantry and vehicles will become very rare to almost non-existent.

EDIT: I found it!!! It was called Bommerz over da Sulphur River, click here for more info.

It will basicly be a mini game for Epic

First, my question was not ment as an insult, I was wondering what you were offering that I could not get in the present game. More complex handling of Knights, more kinds of knights, a better interface between knights and the rest of the game, something new.

If all you are doing is repackaging Epic then you might want to use caution as that is copyrighted material. Posting whole chunks of rules can get GW/SG a little upset.

As for the Bombers over the Sulfur River, I believe it was not just Epic redone for planes. If I remember right, and I many not, it did have a set of rules and covered different areas that Epic at that time did not cover.

In any case, good luck with your efforts.

EDIT: dafrca still can not spell.

I havent taken it as an insult, if I gave you the impression that I was offended, Im sorry! :)

We want more complex handelings on Knights and more types like you mentioned, however we want to do something more than just having Epic and that's it. We want certain new rules which truly focus on the Knights and the battles between them.

However we are looking for some more members who have some fresh ideas and suggestions, so if you do have these ideas, please post them here: link

I have Bommerz. It is a very simple game, very different from Epic. The Imperial aircraft move along a set route, one circle/step at a time. As they make a pass over the bridges, counters are revealed to show the defences. It is an ok game, worth about 30 minutes, but not tactical or long-standing.

To be honest (and this should tell you how much I like the game), I have not played it in years and I cant remember. I got it for about 5 pounds, and it had a load of Epic fliers in it, so I was happy enough.

I think I will stick for the standard epic stats, however there will be lots of extras and other thingies added to it, perhaps also fancy rules for unit formations and all that.

Problem is now that the people who help me out with the project are making the 40k version of it, hence too much based on the "support" units (elite squads and scout vehicles).

I think it would be hard to make a game that was both 40k and Epic. Not because they do not share a background, but because they have such different focus. 40k is more skirmish level where the level of details of individual troopers can make a big difference. Epic on the other hand is more focused on a battle and the effect of a single trooper is less felt.

I would almost not try to combine the two efforts. Let the 40k guys charge forward and the Epic version needs to have a different focus. Just my .02

Well the 40k guys are the "crazies" which means they will probably take the epic thing and build gigantic things :D

The game is focussed on Knight vs Knight action, which is fitting for the epic version I think. The 40k version could perhaps be more focussed on the "support" of those Knights (infantry and other vehicles)

I'm with dafrca. I would restrict it to epic scale.

The 40k version will be more focussed on the infantry who try to take out those Knights while the Epic (the "true" to the original idea) version will be Knight vs Knight battles

Hi Malika,

I think you'd be better off designing a game like the old Wargame series that Jervis wrote: Horus Heresy, Battle of Armageddon and Doom of the Eldar.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

The thing is that these games had a fixed location and storyline already. You couldnt really make up your own campaign with storyline since well Horus Heresy was about the Heresy, Doom of the Eldar was about the invasion of Iyanden etc etc.

I can see what you mean though, but we want to give the player the freedom to have the get set anywhere where its possible.
