What I usuallu do is drag it out and work on the kitchen table.

I sometimes drag out some stuf to the lounge to share 'quality time'  :;):  the corner of the main bedroom is where my main area is though.

Jimbo - what is that big red thing on the box closest to us?

I too have a "portable" working area.  I have a small cupboard which I keep my "in progress" stuff, my paint and a small collection of "bits and gubbins".  The majorty of my stuff lives in the garage in sealed plastic tubs.

I drag out the stuff and take over the coffee table in the study for a few weeks or so when I am home, then away it all goes when I am sea or visitors come (the study is also the guest room).

Thank Gd I have a small permanent space - I'd never clear this stuff and put it up again in less than 2 hours. By the way, it's uncluttered at the moment - 2 secret projects (large for epic scale types - have had to be removed, together with a small box - sorry all, skunk works, you know  :p I also somehow have to build models in the few clear mm^2 remaining...

where are the flecks of a thousand paintjobs?
the piles of filings from a thousand conversions?
The coffee rings?
The chocolate wrappers?

the flecks are there
the filings are too small to be seen
the coffee rings have been obliterated by, or merge into, puddles of brown wash
the choc wrappers become conversion bits.... :p

You already have MADE the conversion:
"Titan remnant, after being targeted by orbiting enemy Heavy cruisers for kinetic strikes...."

Lol, nice stacking of boxes Vanvlak!

I do that too, until the 'leaning tower' looks sufficiently unstable that I stop adding to it and start a new one

I believe it is my wife's raincoat...

Oh you mean the model...

It's an Ork Skorcha, 40K scale though.

Hi Ras,
It's a bit big, I guess, but I'd use it - Nid architecture COULD be massive.  :;):

It would make a really cool starting point for a scratch built crashed Hive Ship...

My hobby related stuff: On the left most of my clothes are giving up closet space in favour of more Epic stuff.
On the right: My new workbench: I have never had a cleaner working area... but then again I'm yet to use this one since I've barely moved in. Wait a couple of weeks and see. I usually don't have more than a 15x30 cm. area of free workspace :D :D

Cheers!  :)

In the War Room, a work bench covered with paints, tools, etc.  Right next to the large (5ftx8ft) gaming table covered with GEO-Hex green mat which inturn is covered with poster boards, and polluted with boxes, bags, etc. of minis, WIP or awaiting their turn under the brush ...   :D   The walls of the War Room are covered with shelves of all sorts with appropriate posters, pics, etc. :;):  My escape pod from the world of reality ...

Thanks Dafrca, it is nice to know that I am not the only one who works in quality squalor conditions of my own making! ?:D

I don't know what the Quality is, but I believe it does count as self made squalor.  :p

the piles of filings from a thousand conversions?
The coffee rings?
The chocolate wrappers?

:D

...The Pizza Boxes
...The Band-Aid Box
...The Asprins

All important when I do conversions.

MODELLING: Work Station or Not!

Hi Guys,

I wish I could say that I have a proper work area, but I don't.

I primarily use three areas for modelling and hobby work:

1. A DESK IN MY TINY APARTMENT BEDROOM:
- I have very small desk in my bedroom, that when cleared off functions as a work surface.
- My grandfather who was a carpenter and upholsterer made it from wood and it measure about 2'x1.5'...
- I have it covered with a spare board I fit to cut the top that I cover with newspaper and a custom-cut model cutting matte when I do work with the pointy and sharp tools. ?
- I've painted a very large amount of figures at this little desk, but it is covered with detritus at the moment.

2. THE KITCHEN TABLE:
- My roommate and I dod not have a proper kitchen table... we use a fold-up table that I bought several years ago for a steal.
- It is covered with a plastic tablecloth and a nice sheet for the end where we eat.
- The far end of the table stores our radio, some CDs and a small GW shipping box or two of my models for when I work on them.
- I seem to do most of my assembling, glueing and finishing of models here.

3. THE OUTSIDE PORCH:
- I use the outside porch for spraypainting AKA priming and messy terrain work.
- I've made several terrain projects out on the porch as well as a ton of priming.
- I have made two terrain projects in the near past: the Mars Forgeworld boards and the Agriworld boards.

And, in the future (I plan to move later this Summer), I hope to dedicate the entire kitchen table to a modelling area and buy a proper kitchen table. Until then, I'm stuck using the ramshackle work areas that I presently use.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
I don't have any photos of my work areas at the moment.
