OK, I have catalogued my Nid Force, so I know what I have to get (more specifically than "a lot") and apart from a few identifications still pending, this is what I have:

5 Lictors
3 Carnifex (old style - ie Big!)
7 Hive Tyrants (4 old, 3 new)
3 Zoanthropes (remind me of Zygons from Dr Who....)
14 Termagaunt stands
7 Genestealer Stands
7 Hormagaunt stands
7 Gargoyle stands
3 Biovore (aka "small cannon beasties")
3 full and complete Nid sprues

1 Dominatrix
1 Harridan
1 Bio Titan (type unknown, dont think its even complete)
7 Exocrines
1 Trygon
5 Malefactor
3 Haruspex

All except the Lictors, Harridan and the Dominatrix are unpainted as you can see (and they were painted when I got them, its not my work).  This is the majority of the amry which I photographed last year, though there have been minor additions (3 bio-vehicles and some Tyrants)

I havent decided on a paint scheme yet for the main force.  I kinda like that goofy red flesh and dark blue shells GW did for the release Mattle of Macragge, and have also like the very nice natural browns Markconz used.  I know I DONT like that all over white scheme GW is using at the moment though....

Its not a spit on a chittering horde yet, but its a start I guess.
Anyone with Nid forces excess to needs are more than welcome to contact me for trade!

(and where are the Zoats....sigh)

Primarch

Doesn't it though!    I recently bought about 50 square bases off ebay so I could have some spares on hand.

I had some good enws on the phone for htose of us Down Under (yes thats you too Markconz!) re SG orders

As of Sep (which means read Oct-Nov probably), you will be able to order SG stuff from GW OZ online, who will then get it shipped in a weekly delivery from UK to Oz, then mail it out to you. ?Wait time about 2 weeks approx, but you only pay the postage from th GW Oz distribution centre to your house.

What fantastic news!!! Thanks Tas!

Thanks matey!

Took the day off work (naturally!) to enjoy it to the max: was treated to a nice leisurely breakfast in bed by Lynette and the kids. ?Spoilt rotten with presents, including an antique pendulum clock (150 yrs old) and an X-Box!.

Tonight Lynette and I have a babysitter booked and we are going out for Dinner and then to see the new War of the Worlds in Gold Class - Martians and sipping Gin and Tonics - outstanding! ?:D

Hi Tas,

I'm glad to hear that you received the king's treatment. You deserve it. If I can manage it, you'll have a MEGA-TRADE worth of new presents heading your way today. I've been busting my hump trying to get this out to you.

Let me know what kind of 'Nids you can use.

*** Do you want any Kruthik hatchlings from the D&D miniatures line? ***

I think they make perfect Raveners...

I have enough to give you some...

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

REVIEW: WAR OF THE WORLDS (Speilburg version)

Well I went last night with Lynette for my Birthday...

Overall, I enjoyed it.  The Tripods are AWESOME as is all the effects in their Hollywood glory as you would expect.  A few instances and nasty stuff happening just out of sight where your imagination can fill the blanks nastily

Much more of the traditional Wells than I expected, the artilleryman character is in there (although he is a paramedic), the collecting people into baskets on the tripods, the injection of blood and the red weed.

The storyline is a Survivor's story.  A man trying to survive with his 2 kids as civilisation crumbles.  Its that simple.  It starts rather hum-drumish, which I though was the worst part, but when the Tripods appear and the heat rays come out, it starts in earnest!

No, there is Thunderchild scene chaps....

Yes, there are UUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAs!

Overall, I thought it was a good visual movie with more of the traditional WOTW aspects than I had thought and more than the 50s version had.  Worst aspects - depth to storyline.  Best aspects - special effects (and you could have guessed that)

I look forward to hearing what others though!

Hi Tas,

COOOOOLLLLLL! :D

I'm going to try and see the film tonight with Diana after I pick her up from the train station. Although, if she's tired we might have to wait until tomorrow.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

FILM: I saw the Spielburg WOTW film today!

Hi Everyone,

I saw the Spielburg WOTW film today and LOVED it! Diana was a bit spooked, but I really liked the Martians and their tripods.

This review by Tas is spot on!

REVIEW: WAR OF THE WORLDS (Spielburg version)

Tas: Well I went last night with Lynette for my Birthday...

Overall, I enjoyed it. The Tripods are AWESOME as are all of the special effects in their Hollywood glory as you might expect. A few creepy instances of nasty stuff happening just off screen and out of sight really fills in the blanks with the worst that your imagination can provide.

I agree that the Tripods were simply AWESOME!

I also really liked how much of the really creepy stuff that Spielburg left off screen.

Suggestion is powerful part of a good scare and our imaginations will always be able to provide a scarier imagine than one possible on the screen. In this regard the film reminded me very much of a M. Night Shyamalan film. I just finished watching Shyamalan's "Signs" just a week or too back and it compared very well with this new Spielburg WOTW film.

Tas: Much more of the traditional Wells material was included than I expected. The artilleryman character is included (Although he is a paramedic... ), the collecting of people into baskets on the Tripods and blood injections needed by Martians as well as the red weed.

I have to diagree with you here, Tas. The paramedic takes the place of the vicar character and not the artilleryman.

The red weed and the Martian need for blood were impressively displayed by the Spielburg WOTW film!

Tas: The storyline is a "Survivor's" story: a man trying to survive with his two children as civilization crumbles. It's that simple! It starts rather hum-drummish, which I though was the worst part, but as soon as the Tripods appear with their heat rays, the film comes out with a flourish!

I didn't mind the slow start because it really set the pace for the audience to be surprised when the time came...

The heat rays were very cool... really more of a very high powered electrical arc or discharge...

*** But... why did the heat rays disintegrate the bodies of those struck and not their clothing? ***

Tas: Now, there is Thunderchilde scene, chaps...

I was a bit disappointed by the Thunderchilde scene.

Tas: Yes, there are UUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAs!

The "UUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAA" was most impressive. Very eerie!

Tas: Overall, I thought it was a good visual movie with more of the traditional WOTW aspects than I had thought there would be. The film definitely had more of the H.G. Wells storyline than the 1953 George Pal movie had. The worst aspect of the film was a lack of storyline depth. The best aspect of the film were the outstanding special effects (And we all could have guessed that... )!

I agree with you 100%.

Tas: I look forward to hearing what others think of the film!

UUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

I liked it too, Tas! :)

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
