But they live on in miniature... :D

We could say that about a lot of historical stuff. ?:D

True, but it is nice to have the real things.

There is a WW1 Japanese Heavy Cruiser next to the US base in Yokosuka too

The IJN sure did have nice looking ships. It's kind of too bad we sank so many of them.

No, its not.  They could have saved those ships (and a lot of Allied ships at the same time) by surrendering.  They didnt

I dont want to get all philisophical and stuff DS, but KMS Bismarck was also a lovely ship, and she had to die too.

Yes those ships were nice, so I can see what you are saying.
The guys who owned them werent.  They lost.
I'm glad their ships werent better or more numerous personally  :L

Thus the whole Real Life vs. War Game theme comes back.  :;):

It was a shame we had to sink them, if they had not engaged in a war with us, it would have been a better thing.

Am I sorry we did sink them, no, but is it a shame they put us in the place where we had to, Yes.

To be honest, once you get past the "run at you and see how many survive your fistful of firing die to club you to death" wargame, I think its inescapable.  ESPECIALLY, for Historial wargaming.

The ability to seperate an admiration for a nation's military achievements from their political aims allows wargamers to get past it.  And probably why SciFi (without the real world connotations) is so popular.

Sorry to hijack this thread fellahs! - Nice Battlecruisers CC! :D

It's ok Tas...

I completely understand your commnets.

War is horrible in all forms and it is always a sad day for humaity when the course of actions leads to war.

Well back to the WWI ships...

I'm priming the first one know.  Hopefully it will done on Tuesday when I go to Lamont's to paint.

Tonight the Battle of the Yellow Sea.

Tas, I agree with you. That's why I said "kind of too bad" instead "too bad." Extermination of the IJN (and the Kreigsmarine) was completely justified and I wouldn't have wanted the USN and RN to do otherwise.

Ok guys here is a sneak peak...

The first two ships up are the HMS New Zealand and HMS Tiger. ?The minis themselves are done the only thing left is labels and water. ?I may just finish painting the squadron and then do all the water at once.

As it's turning to be quite a blast painting these minis, I was daunted at first by all the GHQ detail.  I'm very proud of them and hope you enjoy this slight diversion from epic, sorry.

So nothing says it better than pictures...
