Hey, there will be no G/Deamons in my Tau Forces ... but you know G/W always likes to muddy the waters to increase sales.  That being said ... "be afraid ... be very afraid ..."     :o  }:)

Hi!

Well, the background just serves as a sales device, so consistency isnt a priority.

A couple of things:

Because of the warp storms raging on around the Tau homeworld/galaxy, the Imperium couldnt attack (Or "Cleanse", as they like to call it) them.  The storms are still ongoing, but have died down a bit, but it would still hinder the Imperium if they ever decided on a planetary assault.  The Tau can navigate through the warp using calculated jumps, and so they can travel through the storms safely.  I quote the following from the Tau Codex:

"...the Ethereals and Air caste worked to refine the technique of travelling through warp space, but without the specialised mutation of the Navigator gene, their colony ships could only make short 'hops' into warp space, skimming the edges of the immaterium.  With the tightly packed nature of the Tau empire, this did not prove to be a problem and protected them from many of the inherent dangers of warp travel."

As for being "possesed" by CHAOS, it isn't necessary to be psychicly aware technically.  People can be influenced, persuaded to do things and turn against their people.  I suppose these people could be considered by their people to be "possesed", as CHAOS has influence over them.

True. But, if I remember correctly, this possession involved a Greater Daemon of Tzentch bursting out of a Ethereal. I thought that the daemons required a path from the warp to the material world, and the link to the humans soul provided this. If the Tau lacked this shadow in the warp, then theoretically, they could not be possessed.

They are able to dip through the warp to travel, but not to navigate it. I guess that a Ethereal could be possessed on one of these 'dips' into the warp, but it does push the likelyhood a little for me (obviously, pushing the likelyhood beyond the aliens, technology, witchcraft and so on!)

Um, nowhere is it said that the Tau are blanks, eg. have no presence in the Warp. They just don't have any psychic powers. Or do they? Nothing is said about the ethereals and their ability to command absolute obedieness except that it is "mysterious". Some sort of latent psychic ability, perhaps...?

I've long since stopped following the development of all the variouos army lits on the SG playtest forum. Following them all is just becoming too time consuming and i'm just getting fed up with some of the "squabble" over details (not to insult any of the people who put a serious effort into platesting of course  :;):  )

However I was wondering what the status is for most of the lists? Are some of them settled so much that we might have something close to a finished product?

Cheers!  :)

Hi Adrian,

At least two or three of the lists are scheduled for turn-in in September. My E-A 'Nid list is among them and it's already almost done... just some balancing and playtesting left to do.

I recommend sticking with one list and following that one...

My 'Nid list is a good one because the moderator/champion is really good (Me!)...  :)

Many of the other lists have deadlines that are a year or more away...

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I have only followed the Nid one lately and the Chaos ones to a lesser degree.

Maksim has done a bang up job on the Nids, and has been quite dynamic in pushing out the changes and canvssing everyone for their opinions.

Unleash the Fury of the Hive... :p

BTW,I sent Doug some of my Eldar, IG and Chaos TO&Es to post on this site, as some of you asked.  They are not revolutionary, but a melding of Epic systems + ...  He'll try to post them when he gets them ... :D

WN, you're not the only one who has gotten fed up with the endless squabbling.    I, too, give credit to those who are putting in a serious playtesting effort.

Chaos, L&D and Nids all have a deadline to turn into Jervis in September.

Both chaos lists will be affected by changing Summoning rules that are pending.  The Black Legion list is down to a handful of issues.  The L&D, imho, is nearly done and lacks only point adjustments from Audrey's last version.

I requested that MC23 submit the Ulthwe list to Jervis for the Rules Committee consideration and approval.  I think it's been pretty much done for months.  Hopefully, Black Legion, L&D, and Ulthwe will make a nice "Eye of Terror" e-release package.

Tau deadline is scheduled for sometime around December or January.  Most reports say it is very close to complete.

Pretty much everything else could reasonably be considered "back burner" at this point, but a few are close to ready.  IMHO, the Blood Angels is nearly ready.  The other Eldar variants still need to be adjusted, but are close and could be done in a short period with a bit of intensive playtest.

Thanks Neal. That was exactly the kind of intel I was looking for. :)
Nice to hear about the chaos lists in particular. These are the armies I plan to concentrate on in the near future.

Cheers :)

So Chaos might get it's "New Minis" before long.

Of course, Nids is on the list too.

Dont get my blood up in excitment again Dafrca - I dont want the dissappointment if it all falls over.

Then again, I'm gearing myself up for what even Primarch would call a "Big purchase" when they come out... :;):
