I finally got around to playing my first game of Epic Armageddon on Saturday, and loved it immensely. My IG were fun, but I love the Tau. So I've been debating on ordering the Tau or just going with Eldar for my 2nd force. Well I broke down, borrowed a friend's credit card and ordered some Tau from Forgeworld. I should hopefully get them while I'm off work at Christmas.
So here's what I ordered:
1x Tau Command
2x Crisis Battlesuits
1x Firewarriors
1x Gun Drones
1x Devilfish
1x Broadsides
1x Stealthsuits
2x Hammerheads w/Railguns
1x Hammerheads w/Fusion Blasters
1x Barracudas
1X Tigersharks
And here's what I am looking at for a list with what I have ordered, using the IA3 list:
Battlesuit Cadre
Shas'O
Broadsides

Battlesuit Cadre
Shas'El
+2 Battlesuits
Stelth Suit Squad

Firewarrior Cadre
Ethereal
Devilfish

3x Hammerhead Contingent

That comes to 1950 points, which is a decent start at 2000 points. If I drop the Ethereal, I can add in the 2 Barracudas.
What should I add in there next. I was thinking another unit of Firewarriors with some Piranhas & Tetras, and a pack of Skyrays to add 1 to each of my tank squads, and an Orca for my Command HQ.
Any suggestions or helpful hints on the Tau would be much appreciated as I make my way through this section of the forum.

HH contingents are 4 models for 250 points.
Hope you just had a typo.

The broadsides will seriously slow the crisis suits down. Also, with the likely division of crisis and broadsides as infantry and light vehicle the broadsides will be vulnerable to AT fire picking them off. Better to field broadsides in the contingent if you can.

I really like this formation, its one I field regularly, though I put my Shas'o in it. If not using a 2 Moray formation this is usually my BTS formation, which is good as a large(ish) formation of tough, fast infantry is hard to destroy.

I always take a FW formation too. I haven't tried it with the Etheral yet, but I have read reports where it has been effective.

As Tactica says its 4 for 250. Also I assume you know that the alternate weapon is the Ion Cannon (not fusion blaster) in the list. Having one Ion Cannon in the formation makes for a decent "token" AA presense on the board.
You might want to consider one MAHC (Mobile Armoured Hunter Cadre) of 6 Hammerheads and one Contingent of 4.
I agree that Piranhas and Tetras would make a good expansion. A couple more cheap activations will be useful. If you usual/regular opponent uses large WE then you will want to consider the Moray (I believe that the BFG Protector model is being used by some, someone will correct me if thats wrong).
