Joffo-Wup mentioned a "Space Marine Battles Book" in another thread:

One thing that we possibly do need in NetEpic is a "Hobby Codex".  With this kind of book we can put in terrain building tutorials (as Epic-scale terrain has its own unique techniques), painting schemes, tactical tips and campaign ideas (sort of like the old Space Marine Battles Book).  The addition of your multi-player modus rules into this kind of codex is ideal as it gives players ideas on how to be creative with NetEpic games without introducing it as "rules" (even if only optional).

I reckon it was after my time playing SM. Maybe Titan Legion era? So what actually was in it?  i'm especially wanting scenarios and campaign rules for NetEpic.  Could the stuff in there be re-written for NetEpic? was it much good?

It WAS SM era, and included a compilation of WD battle reports and astricles - 4 bat-reps, including a nice big Eldar vs Blood Angels (Andy Chambers vs Jervis Johnson) - those were the days! - and stats for Yarrick and Ghazgkul and Space Wolf characters, and instructions for making bunkers and barbed wire. No scenarios, as far as I recall.

Pretty sure it had some scenarios to use with all the Fortifications and Barricades....assault, long-ways battles etc.  I'll dust mine off again.

It had the ASSAULT! rules and scenario for use the fortification, hidden set up and dug in rules which were included.

I think the scenarios Zap123 is thinking about were in WD 172 in the Blood and Fire article.  Rescue Operation, A Bridge Too Far, The Flank Attack, Capture and Hold and Breakout.

Cheers guys! especially Vanvlak- filled a few gaps in my knowledge of Epic history :)

Unfortunately it looks to be mostly WD articles, many of the more useful stuff I have, or is in netepic books anyway.  I might want to write up the assault scenario for netepic - it is a scenario (well a style of play anyway- different armies and objectives etc) though I'm not sure it works so well in netepic- not as it was written then

I suppose I was hoping for scenarios based on sensible table sizes rather than the long 8x4's in those ones- I have only 1 room could possibly accommodate such a game if I moved loads of stuff and played on the floor :( Thanks anyway!

Yarrick on a Baneblade with Squats?  The 1st line of a joke, possibly ???

Heh
Does sound like one, but it's true. Yarrick is chasing Ghazgkull  and has commandeered a Baneblade, which, being part of a company card, has another pair with him. Mean old Ghazgkull   is hiding (of all places) on a planet crawling with Squats, and Yarrick and the stunties gang up on big bad G.

+++SPOILER WARNING+++

And old man Yarrick gets captured when his Baneblade blows up....

Yarrick, Ghazgkull, and some squats walk into a bar... having parked the Baneblade outside...

Has the background improved since then or are the actual details not as bad as V is making it sound?!  :O

Sometimes you've just gotta get it out of your system!

Did they ever have Squat (presumably, biker) bars in the official background?  How gay were they?

Now THAT'S getting close to why the poor stunties were aledgedly dropped in the first place
All pink and sugary for the Nids to tuck into.

I have the Battle book at home but not looked at them in ages, did not one of the other books of the series, Army Book and ???? not have scenarios?

Apart from the assault scenario, I didn't know of any scenarios- certainly there were none in the main SM or pre-titan legion army books.  I just hoped the battle book might have been the missing piece.

edit: Since the assault scenario isn't included in Netepic, I guessed there might be others missed as well.

Yeah, WD172 has all the scenarios.  Dug it out, kinda neat.  There is also a later WD (I'm thinking 200) that has special objective counters (cleanse, take and hold, rescue etc) that have different rules and points values.  I remember we tried them and they were kinda fun, but occassionally really unbalancing.
