Hi everyone,

New member on the forum here, so wanted to say a big hello to everyone. I got back into gaming and collecting last year after quite a few years away from the hobby, but I'm happy to say my enthusiasm is much revived and I'm looking forward to taking part in the TC fourms. In the past I enjoyed playing various systems, none more so than 2nd ed Space Marine. Epic is still one of my favourite games after all these years, so I'm looking forward to playing some games again.

I thought I'd share some photos of my Ultramarines army with you. All of these models were collected and painted back in the day (must have been circa 1991/2 I guess). Looking rather retro now, and probably not how I'd paint things these days, but hopefully some of the other old school gamers out there will appreciate all that goblin green and GW flock on the bases :-) Hope you like!

p.s. the photobucket link has more photos at a higher res

Oh, meant to add the list as well...

Companies:

- Veteran Company
- Battle Company
- Tactical Company
- Devastator Company
- Scout Company
- Land Raider Company
- Storm Hammer Company

Special cards
- Warlord Titan
- 2 Warhound Scout Titans
- Spare Marine Commander
- Space Marine Medic
- Chaplain
- Inquisitor
- Tech-marine
- Librarian

Detachments
- 4 x Thunderhawk gunships
- 2 x Rapier batteries
- 2 x Tarantula units
- Whirlwind squadron
- Space Marine Assuault detachment
- 2 x land speeder squadrons
- 3 x robot detachments
- 2 x bike squads
- Vindicator squadron
- Grey Knight detachment

All in all about 9000pts in 2nd edition money.

The Storm Hammer company is of course IG rather than Space Marine, but I used to include it in my games sometimes anyway (probably illegally since I don't have any supporting detachments!)

Really cracking old school army! Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm hoping my Orks kick seven shades of shite out of that lot soon!

Love the old school vibe! They could be straight out of the GW studio army circa 1994 :)

Perfect old school ultra marines lined up in disciplined ranks. Love it!

BTW your back story in regards to epic is pretty much the same as mine, a return after 20+ years driven by the game I enjoyed the most back in the day...SM2.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Much appreciated! Glad these are bringing back some good memories for some of you :-)

@moredakka - Aye, those MK1 Thunderhawks have all the sleekness of a flying brick but oodles of nostalgic charm!
@ The Bissler - Don’t worry, I’m sad to say that I got used to losing with this army at the hands of my brother’s chaos horde. Usually I’d spend two turns shooting him to bits, then he’d get into close combat and…well…knock seven shades of shite out me!

Ha! I wouldn't be so sure! A look through my battle reports and you will see that I lose more than I win! Obviously I'd rather win more but it doesn't take away from the fun of the game if I am on the wrong side of a bad result!
