Hi everyone,
I'm new to these forums and to Epic (but not to wargaming or the roundabout we all call GW). I just bought quite a bit of second hand minis off e-bay, the guy I bought some SM from has based the bikes wrong (2 to a base rather than 3) The Bikes are painted to a good standard, but I am going to rebase them 3 to a base as they should be. The bases already have flock on them, any advise on the best way to remove the figures from the bases, and will I need to create new bases or is there a way to stick the models onto the already flocked bases. I also bought some Orks, some of which are on squared bases and some on the newer bases so any general rebasing advise would be great
Thanks in advance

It is perfectly legal to have bikes based 2 to a base so there's no need to rebase them from a technical point of view. Rebasing minis generally means chopping the old base to pieces. For the square infantry bases I make four snips with a cutter on each side towards the center. Then you should be able to gently break the base apart and free the center model. Cut again on each piece to break it - the plastic is thinner in the holes where the infantry goes so it should break fairly easily. Then you need to trim any leftover glue or pieces of the base with a hobby knife. It can be a lot of work depending on how much/what type of glue has been used.
If the miniatures are nicely painted and well based I'd just use them as is but that is of course entirely a matter of taste.
Cheers!

Hi!
Agreed, stick on what looks good, 2 or 3 models per base is good.

Thanks guys
If it's perfectly legal than I will leave the bikes as they are. I might just keep the square base orks as they are as well, and keep them for painting practice. I was mostly concerned because I'm joining the local gaming club in the new year and I know some people can be a bit funny about these things, personally I'm not too bothered
Cheers

Yep, I agree ! No need to "reinvent the wheel" ... after 4 iterations of Epic Since '90 ... I've kept my forces generally "as is" ... G/W-S/G can pound salt !

and to be honest if the guy you bought them off used poly cement - you'll be in a whole world of trouble trying to re-base them

Just to add here, while the bikes are Infantry, and Infantry should be mounted 3-7 to a base, they are also Mounted, which lets you mount 2-4 to a base. This is why they are, in fact, legal. Personally, if you wanted to rebase them, I would drive a sharp knife under the wheels are lift them off that way.

Welcome to the boards, Trench Warfare!
In case you're wondering, the bikes aren't based "wrong." In Epic prior to E40k, bikes were based two per stand. Since my bikes were based that way, I never rebased them for e40k.
