Well, it's Tyranid Month this month, for NetEA, so I'm trying to get in some Tyranid reports.

Had a fantastic 3000 point game today, and my opponent fielded an army that's rarely seen on our table: Speed Freaks!  Additionally, I wanted to try out a variant on the "Handful of Harridans" list that people think might be broken.

We had to do a lot of proxying, but we were able to keep everything straight for the most part.

Speek Freaks garrisoned both Outriders Mobz forward and on overwatch.

Turn 1

No teleports.

Strategy Roll: Speed Freaks

Eager to make a good first impression, the Fighta-Bommerz dive down to hammed Harassment Swarm 4… and do 3DC damage to the Harridan!

Feeling exposed, the Assault Swarm marches itself forward to completely infest the Imperial Cathedral.

Speed Freaks Warband 1 doubles forward and puts a Blast marker on the Assault Swarm.

The Hydraphant doubles forward, trying to take cover amongst the buildings.

Outriders 1 drops overwatch and doubles up close to the Assault Swarm and guns down a single Termagant.

Seeming not that eager to get to the dinner table, the Hierophant fails to double forward and just shuffle towards the enemy.

Outriders 2 also drop overwatch to double up to the Hydraphant and place a Blast marker on it.

Harassment Swarm 1 doubles forward to trash *three* of Outrider 2’s Warbikes.

Speed Freak Warband 2 doubles down the road to place a Blast marker on the Hydraphant. (My opponent quickly realized that putting two Blast markers on any formation other than the Harridans would mean they’d still keep a Blast marker the next turn, even if they rallied.)

Harassment Swarm 3 doubles up to fire on Outriders 1 and takes out a bike.

The Blitz Brigade rumbles forward on a double and manages to do 2 DC damage to the Hierophant!

Harassment Swarm 2 doubles to fire on Outriders 1 and places a Blast marker.

The Mekboy Boss doubles his Kult of Speed up to fire on the Hydraphant… they do 1DC of damage with the Speedsta which happens to critical for another 1DC!

Harassment Swarm 4 doubles forward to fire on Speed Freaks 1… until the Harridan realizes the 4 Blast markers it’s carrying suppress it!  D’OH!

The Fortress Mob doubles forward to fire on the Hydraphant… does 1DC damage… another crit, for another 1DC of damage… which breaks the “fearsomeâ€Â

That's a nice Cathedral Chroma. Is it the old FW one? Any chance of a close up photo? (I'm a bit of a masochist, I wanna know what I'm missing/can no longer buy.)

That is one 'UGE mob oh Speed Freeks. They look great roaring down those streets. Kind of fun seeing the Tyranids using buildings as a strongpoint of cover. Just like most other races would against Tyranids... almost like they are scared?!.    

Can't wait for the next turn... WaKeY! WaKeY! Chroma, rise and shine!..
