We (means: me and Cybershadow) proundly announce the new wargame: Sturmovik Commander, which deals with WW2 air-combats.

What will be inside? A fast, playable cinematic game mechanics (similar to used in AI), a dozens of planes (!), a modular construction with allows to expand it easily and 9 scenarios at the beginning and more in future.

The game premiere is scheduled on 01.IX.2008 at 04:45.

The system will be totally free.

Visit the official web page for details.

So is it wing or individual plane based combat?

Individual plane combats on normal table with no hexboard.

A dozen of planes I mean the dozen of types of the planes. Sorry for confusion.

Will await this one with interest.
And I suppose will further entice me to get the planes for use with both this and BlitzKreig Commander, I take it 6mm will be suitable?
So, CS, yet another string to your bow  :D

It is intented for 6mm or 10mm scale and using the same minis. :agree:

I even think about module linking Sturmovik Commander and Blitzkrieg Commander games in one campaign!

This sounds like a dream come true! I've been hoping for ages that someone would do a AI like game for WW2. I'd have tried it myself, but A; I'd have messed it up and B; I'm lazy.

Can't wait to hear more! And if it gets printed (a la Epic:Raiders) then I'd happily buy a copy! You'd even be able to make a profit on that.

Regards,
Reaver

MKG is being too kind, and he deserves the full credit for this. It is a very interesting set of rules, still currently in infancy but with great potential. My contribution so far has been spell checking (so any mistakes are now mine!) and a few feedback comments. But, I do hope to continue to contribute, and increase my involvement. I have been looking for a fun, fast WWII air combat game for a while - there is a thread here somewhere from me - and couldnt find anything that met my needs. SturCom does.

On release, we will set up a dedicated board for it, as I know that there are several people here who would be interested, and invaluable, in the playtest process.

But without your support I wouldn't even start this project!

I'm not interested in printed version. Sturmovik Commander is living system and I want to publish erratas, changes, improvements, additions and modules online without delay. I wish to make it a community system made by players for players, which isn't possible when making printed version. There will be an option of donating of course, and if you like it you may send a little money which support server paymants.

Yap. The official SturmComm forum in practice is dedicated for development purposes only. I think this board will be suitable place for any other discussion (tactics, battles and so on).

One note:
SturmComm isn't just simple copy of AI. It has a coulple of modifications and changes (ie. hard targets, weapons special rules or a few kinds of bombardment), which make the system better filled to WW2 (like Warmaster and Blitzkrieg Commander).

Sounds cool.

Is there a WWI mod on the horizon for these rules or will you stay with WWII strictly?

WW1 core rules mod would be very easy to make, but there is the problem of squadron lists and specific scenarios. I'm not very interested in this period, but if there are a few persons who are really interested in making it I'll write the rules mod in the future.

Regia Aeronatica is one of the hottiest vacanties I've got! I need valunteer(-s) to make this list.
But I've always may make Fiat G.42 for you personally    . It's just about 10 minutes of work with Wikipedia. :agree:
