In theory: Next february.

Of course it was also supposed to come this autumn so odds are good there won't be official chaos release. GW has pretty much cut out any resources for SG :-(

Do you mean the miniatures?  They are supposed to be released in February 2007, although Specialist Games haven't said a lot on the subject (they never do).

I meant the actual Army List currently on v3.7

Are there any plans to add veterans like the recent update for the SM list

That wasn't an update.  Those units were house rules to be used if you want to.  So no, I expect.

The Black Legion list is pretty well finished for the moment, so no big updates seem expected for the moment.

Have you got any cool ideas for new units wako13?

I've been reading these rules over the last couple of days and was wondering if the demon pool differences compared to the LatD list are intentional? Specifically, in the end phase it seems like the BL list demons are lost forever, but in the LatD list they return to the demon pool.

The summoning rules are supposed to be the same.  The L&D rules are the most up to date.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I like the work that you guys have put into these lists. Now I just have to get a few games in! I haven't played any Epic at all since NetEpic 1! One thing I did notice about E:A is that most of the weapon ranges seem shorter than those in SM2. Is that just flawed memory or a real observation?

I'm glad the rules about Demon summoning have been confirmed and that the LatD rules should be used - Using the BL rules had turned me away from Demons, but now their hordes will return.

I was think more along the lines of the missing units from the lod RENEGADES list.

i.e. Primarchs (or are these Demon Princes)
     Horrors (Ping & Blue)
     Fiends
Chaos Squats (I'm sure these survived)
     Juggers
     Disc Riders
     Trolls & Minatours
     Slaanesh Beast Riders

I know some of these units would only be suitable for the LatD list, but the stats would still be usefull.

Primarchs

I'd like to see some stats for Primarchs too... just for fun games if nothing else.

    Horrors (Ping & Blue)
    Fiends

Eh, one type of Daemon per God is enough IMHO, at Epic scale.

Chaos Squats (I'm sure these survived)

Unfortunately no GW publication is allowed to mention Squats anymore, it's this whole 1984 'squats never existed' thing. So since the Chaos lists are going to be fully official, they can't mention Squats.

Juggers
Disc Riders
Slaanesh Beast Riders

I'd like to see these as Upgrade options for Chaos Champions.

    Trolls & Minatours
Now they're known as Big Mutants, and are in the Lost & Damned armylist.

I was thinking of using juggers and beast riders as "roughrider" proxies.

The appendix models should include stats for all the daemon types (although some are a bit off because testing stopped half way through due to cut back in potential model production).  Daemonic Beasts stats can be used for Fiends and Fleshhounds using the "counts as" rule.

I put Disc Rider stats in the Thousand Sons list.  They are effectively the same as Raptors and can represent Disc Riders or Possessed with wings.  I also have a proposed stat line for Magnus in the Appendix.  Pink and Blue aren't separate types of Horrors any more, but the appendix horror stats have a higher armor save to go with the old school "they split into 2 and keep coming" feel.  (I haven't sent the latest revision to Andy for the website yet, but will soon.  I can send a copy to you if you like).

Slaanesh Beast Riders could use Bike stats.  They are fast enough that those stats would be pretty close assuming they are ridden by CSMs.  There are appendix stats if you want them ridden by Daemonettes.

Chaos Squats can be used as mutated Chaos Marines.  I used a bunch of the Chaos Squat models on top of Warmaster Screamers to model my disc riders.  The Tzeentch-style horned helms work out nicely like that.

Trolls and Minotaurs make good Big Mutants.

The only models that don't have appendix stats or reasonable "counts as" facsimiles are the Juggers and Primarchs.  The other Primarch models could be Daemon Princes or variant Greater Daemons but I don't really like that idea.

Juggernaughts could be cool to have as an upgrade for Chaos Champions.

Nealhunt: Do you think that it'd be likely that Chaos could get a metal characters blister like the other armies (I'm assuming mostly OOP plastics like Jugger riders etc recast in metal due to no sculpting going on...)?

I'm thinking it's a pretty long shot, but that there might be enough OOP models around for it to be technically a possibility. :)

Oh another related thought: 2nd ed plastic sprue rereleased for LATD?

It's mostly different models, though you'd end up with a million Jugger riders. :D

I wouldn't count on it.

My understanding is that the only reason there were as many Siege IG and Feral Ork models as there were is because the wheels were already turning before the Great SG Cuts.  It's probably going to be a challenge just to get existing sculpts back in production, though I am hopeful it will happen.  I'm just hoping they'll be able to get the chaos bike and dreadnought sculpts that were never in production into the mix.

But that's mostly speculation on my part.  I haven't actually heard any rumors I would trust since I was told Andy was looking into what chaos models could be put into production a while back.

And then, of course, you seem to know a lot more about what FW is doing than anyone else on the boards.  If your rumor about potential daemon engines is solid, I think that's awesome.  That entire set of minis had tremendous potential but mostly fell short, imho.  I start salivating at just the idea of a FW Silver Tower sculpt.
