Hello out there,

This is a writeup for the Chapter I created when Rogue Trader first came out and I have played it off and on as various editions changed the game.

This is how I saw it in Epic, with only a few changes from a standard Maine list, I have tried to keep it to the format of Net Epic 5.0.

The key one is the use of Jet Bikes (I have a companies worth in both 40K and Epic scale).

Any comments/critiques are appreciated.

Ray,

Legion of Balmung

Originally part of the 2nd Founding, this Chapter was thought lost until reports reached the Nibelungen III system governor of a suspected Eldar pirate outpost being attacked by an unknown Space Marine force.

Follow up investigations revealed the identity of the force as belonging to this lost chapter.
The Legion of Balmung made contact with the appropriate Imperial Authorities and presented records of a prolonged fight and campaign against Ork and Dark Eldar groups during their centuries of absence.

Part of these records was proof of a lost Adeptus Mechanicus template for experimental Jet Bikes.

Though pleased to have one of the missing chapters back, the inquisition was disturbed by some of the changes the centuries of isolation from the Empire had caused.

Though given a new world to call their own the Legion of Balmung is being watched and evaluated to see if their lengthy absence and proximity to corrupting influences have weakened their loyalty and purity to the Emperor.

Interesting. I like how you have characters mounted on Bikes and Jet Bikes.

Since you have written this for NetEpic, you might want to have the thread moved from EA Adeptus Astartes, which is for Epic: Armageddon rules.

If that is where it should go (uhmmm how do I move i).

I placed it here as this was listed as the adeptus astartes section and I though this is where it would be appropriate

And what exactly is Epic Armaggedon (as opposed to Net Epic)?

I stopped playing Epic right around Epic 40,000 and only got back into it earlier this year (with my son who wanted to know what all the stuff was in storage)

Having given it a quick once over, do the stats and costs for th Jet Bikes and the Chaplain or Apothecary seem balanced?

They used to offer both types of characters on bikes and jet bikes so it seemed that they should be special cards available for the company.

Epic: Armageddon is the current edition of Epic. The rules are almost completely different from NetEpic, which is based on Space Marine/Titan Legions. PM Cybershadow to move this thread to its proper home.

I'm glad to hear that you've returned to the Epic fold, especially if your son is interested.

At first glance your stats seem okay, but they'll probably need some playtesting to  verify them.

Indeed it is good to have your children begin an interest in something you enjoy.

He has latched on to the Squats but also wants to run them in 40K

But his seconday army is Space Marines of which I have plenty (in both scales).

So is Armageddon basicly Epic 40,000 wiht more updates?

Not quite, EA isn't as abstract as Epic 40k.  It differs from SM/TL in that there are fewer special rules and more stream lined mechanics.

You can take a look at all the rules free here:

For rule updates take a peak around these forums.

Armageddon will remind you of E40K a lot :).  It is less bland though.  Kinda hard to compare to SM2/TL as its lineage and mechanics are totally different.

Your new Marine Chapter looks fine.  I think the Jetbike Marines compare pretty well to the equivalent Eldar unit and are costed appropriately.  However I'm not sure why the Apothacary and Chaplain on Jetbikes are cheaper than the bike riding equivalents.  I'd make the Bike versions 75 and 100 and the Jetbike ones 25 points more....and perhaps even 25 points more all round if you play the normal Command rule.

Somehow the costs for the Chaplain amd Medic Bike/Jetbike units got switched, I have it corrected now.

They should be:
Medic Bike 75, Medic Jet Bike 100
Chaplain Bike 100 Chaplain Jet Bike 125

When you say possible 25pts more do you mean just the Jetbikes or the mounted Medic, Chaplain in General.

Thanks for the comments.

On reflection, perhaps an extra 25 for just the mounted Chaplains.  The standard version of Command with such large movement is very powerful.  If you play the optional rule for Command (we all do down here) then it is not so overpowering.
