Hi Guys,

That's one of the things I've learned since trying to do naval warfare at 6mm:

Don't be scale dependent!

1/200, 1/300, 1/500 is all fine when you take in the bigger picture and as long as the models are painted, noone complains.

Oddly scaled toys and trinkets often end up being the best place to go for good models.

The recent Matchbox Hero City line has had some great vehicles: a firefighting hovercraft, an AWACs flier, a speedboat, a tug and many others.

Some of my favorite boats have been kit-bought or were conversions: Dollar Store fishing trawlers that were converted, larger scale (1/500 and 1/600) plastic destroyers, small pewter "whaling" boats, fishing boats from a "charms" set, lots of plastic baots and submarines from 99 Cent Store packages...

And my favorite: An old Hot Wheelz container ship that fits E-A IG Superheavy tanks and... OGREs!

So, really, the idea is look out for appropriate hulls and later convert them.

Almost all of my Israeli and Arab missile boats were created this way.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,

As a side note, I'd like to report that the MEGA-TRADE with Dalton is now done. I've paid for everything and we're happy with the exchange! Omayn!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,

I am in the process of finishing a trade with Dafrca and he sent me a whole collection of odd things including some pieces from an OOP game called Ronin War, which really impressed upon me a great look for the new E-A AMTL Playtest list...

There are some smaller Titan and Knight pieces, which have a very similar look to the early plastic "Beetleback" Titans.

The vehicles and aircraft are pretty vanilla though... one-piece cast plastic manufactured in China... I think that I will have to modify mine with spare microarmor MGs and BFG arials...

Dafrca was very generous with this trade and I have a spare Epic Capitolis Imperialis heading his way as well as a number of 15mm and larger-scaled vehicles... :)

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I am glad that the box arrived OK. I kept seeing things like the Ronin stuff and thinking, "Maksim would like this".

I hope it all arrived in good shape. I tried to pack it well, but I know how things go with the Post Office. ?:L

Oh and the 28mm stuff is for you to pass on to whom ever you think will us it.

Hi Daniel,

Dafrca: I am glad that the box arrived OK. I kept seeing things like the Ronin stuff and thinking, "Maksim would like this".

You were right. Ronin has some really cool styling on its miniatures. The rules from the game are pretty hopeless though... Clickie Tech TM games with too much weight... sinks right to the bottom... :(

I'm thinking that they want to be Japanese forces for OGRE...

Or Dirtside II... :)

Dafrca: I hope it all arrived in good shape. I tried to pack it well, but I know how things go with the Post Office.
?

It came alright, but some of the ships seem to be borken... although I'm guessing you got them that way.

Dafrca: *** What did you think of the buildings? ***

I like them.

*** Where did those little building come from? ***

I have some other buildings near this scale (around 1/600) that came with Godzilla figurines...

Speaking of which, my sister and I rented movies and they had an overflow sale so I bought "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" for $5.00 USD today... :D

Dafrca: Oh and the 28mm stuff is for you to pass on to whom ever you think will us it.

Metal Magic made some great minis in their day. I hear that they're being reissued as well.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Completely agree - the range scale dilution makes it a difficult proposition anyway. Sounds like you have a great collection there matey!

Cool! Drooool...... ?:D

Excellent! No probs on the delay either, I know I will be most satisfied when the goods arrive. Many thanks for including me on the deal and asisting with the transaction. ?

I'll have Dalton's second parcel ready by end of the week.

Cheers!
Tas.

I agree, I am sure they would love to take on an Ogre or attack a city or something fun like that. :;):

Wish I could tell you. I received them from a deal I made. Had a few of each type. Not sure where the person got them from.

Speaking of which, my sister and I rented movies and they had an overflow sale so I bought "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" for $5.00 USD today... :D ?

Good buy there.

Hi Tas,

Tas: I'll have Dalton's second parcel ready by end of the week.

Dalton and I were just speaking yesterday about this. We don't want you to break up your collection too much. He'll take other options if your collection will be too shattered by this trade.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Guys,

As a side note, I spent the night over at my sister's place yesterday (Her children have been with their father this weekend) and we rented a few movies (1-10 ratings):

- "White Noise": 6-

- "Post-Impact": 4-

- "Arachnaphobia": 8-

I'm getting tired of scary movies that have cheesy main endings in which the protagonist gets killed. That pretty much summed up "White Noise," "The Ring" and a number of other stinkers I've seen lately.

Diana and I watched these three films last weekend:

- "Star Wars- Episode III": 7+

- "The Alamo": 8-

- "Signs": 9

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Tas,

I think that it is the 2003 remake, but I'm not sure. There are more copies at the store if you are interested. I'm obligated to send you a package in the near future anyway... :)

They also had a copy of "Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster" for $8.33 USD, but I cheaped out on that one.

To be honest, I haven't seen either film yet.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I mean I can see Paris Hilton... but I guess she wouldn't make a good subject for a wargame!  ?

Never mind! :;):
