Hehe, if I wasn't a New Zealander I might have issues with it... as it is I'm a bit one-eyed ? If they are setting up the tournament and supplying prizes etc then I guess they can do whatever they want. | Part of the real issue was, there is stuff on their lists they do not even make.
So if you make a legal army using their lists and have a mini for one of those items it, by force, had to be from Peter Pig or Old Glory or someone else.
The whole Idea that only their Shermans were good enough for a game was just silly. Further, many of the people they attracted were people who already had WWII stuff. Where did they think that stuff came from?
Oh well, I understand it, I just do not agree with it and think it is just asininely funny.

Well P, you don't have to 'take it' unless you want to play in a FOW tournament, so I guess it is not a problem!
Funnily enough I don't think there are hugely strict rules on tournaments here in NZ where the actual designers are often present!! One person I know who uses quite a few Peter Pig figures, also playteseted and is credited in one of the latest suplements. Plus Battlefront don't make the aircraft yet so you have to use other models anyway.
The question I have is... how do you tell FOW and other historical 15mm minis apart? If they are both accurate replicas of historical units etc then they must be pretty identical!!

So if you take the same item (say a Sherman M4A1) from Peter Pig, QRF, Battlefront (The makers of FOW) and Old Glory they all four will be slightly different sizes. Further some of them make the guns slightly thicker for durability. Also some have better details and some take some liberty with minor details.
Also Battlefront makes their models out of resin for the bodies and add metal bitz to finish them. The others are all metal. So you turn the vehicle over (hold the turret so it does not drop) and if you see solid resin it must be Battlefront. If you see hollow metal it isn?t.

Quote (primarch @ 20 2004 Oct.,17:46) | Maybe the make them "heroic" 15mm scale and thats how you now.... |
The difference between the troops (Old Glory, Battlefront, Peter Pig) is much greater then between the vehicles. Battlefront is most definitely the "Heroic" 15mm (read 18mm). Peter Pig is somewhere between and the Old Glory looks almost sickly next to the Battlefront.

Thanks, Daf ! Interesting site ! I finished a couple of my own versions of Big Gunz, today. Just have to hit them with clear flat spray. I have 3 Mobs of Battlewagons based coated, I'll be working on next. I reviewed the Epic IG Rgt's TO&E I am working on consisting of mostly F/W and E:A IG. And I'll add the Epic F/W Tallarn to this unit too, when they are released. I also finished "Hammer's Slammers", a few days ago ! I'm going to reread the stories I liked. Very interesting reading, especially since he served with the 11th ACR in Vietnam.

Working on the Assault Marine. So far, so good, but I have broken yet another drill (making this 3 in last two weeks). Fortunately I still had one replacement remaining.
The miniature has been subject to so much pinning that it earned a nick-name of Pinface - there is almost no part of it that has not been drilled through and pinned.
The bolt pistol is also an interesting construction, being made of some spare Bolter bits and other parts. Result is as unique as it is nice, being easily recognizable as a bolt pistol and yet maintaining a unique quality.
Oh, and almost forgot, here are some pics of my converted Locust. I have not put him up on my site, cause, well, I don't have enough materials for a proper Battletech section and a gallery.

Re; pinning... If you are using thin drillbits 5th, (I use 'em quite a lot).. make sure you position the bit with only a short length sticking out of the chuck- this means there is less leverage on the thin bit if you are pressing hard to drill metal. (see pic for a better idea of what I mean)...
White metal bits are a real faff to pin, as the stuff is pretty hard, so I tend not to bother pinning unless really nessecary...
Hope that was handy, feel free to ignore if you knew it all already!
