With the few games I've been able to play so far I'd say that the Cobra is an excellent choice. Not too sure about the Firestorm. The lance shot can be powerfull but personally I prefer Cobras.
Cheers!

Cobra's torpedoes are fantastic in large squadrons, and their speed makes them really handy for getting behind large enemy groups and really hurting them. Firestorms are a little more specialised- I find grouping a few of them with a lance Dauntless makes them more effective.

Another question...
On the GW online store it says that fighters, bombers assault boats etc come as "6 sprues". How many squadrons/bases can be made up from 6 sprues?

Fleetmaster: 6 "sprues" = a STR 6 attack craft wave.
I use the cardboard ones in the boxed set, myself. However, should I find any old Epic 20mm x 20mm bases, I'd probably scratchbuild some.

What kinds of ordnance do the cardboard ones represent?
Thats good news, as I am thinking of a devastation as one of the chaos ships, and don't fancy forking out ?20+ pounds for some bits of plastic...:p

The Attack craft are metal AFAIK. The cardboard ordinance in the BFG box represent several different types from Torpedoes to attack craft and assault boats. Can't rmrmber if it is GZG that also porduces some very nice small scale craft which could be used.
Cheers!

The counters represent a number of attack craft, either three (assault boats), four (bombers) or five (fighters). And yes, Ground Zero produce some excellent attack craft and I use them a lot.

I've used the carboard ones from the box set ever since I started playing- there isn't enough need in my fleet to justify spending my valuable cash on the metal ones...
