A mate of mine made a game mod for our own Role Playing - Skirmish board game version of Space Hulk. In this game you can choose a warband/ Squad from any legal race in the 40K universe. He had a developmental progression chart. With this I started with a party of Sisters of Battle and then with experience achieved though missions one or mor could be increased in level from a battle sister to a Sister Superior, Sister Hospatilier, Dominion, a Retributor, then a Celestine, Palantine, 0-1 Cannoness. If you Role Played correctly, then you could become a Saint Celestine instead of a Cannoness.
A mate of mine used a Space Wolf warband, and another a Blood Angels Warband. A tird had an Elf Warband which everything from a Guardian, through to a Harlequin, to a Warlock, and then Autarch/Farser.
Using this as a guideline, you could recreate the game into role play game board game with level progression in multi race warbands/battle squads. And then have it as an Epic 6mm scale board game for you and your mates.
A lot of work, but it wuld be fun game to play. It gives you a wider range of minis, and your warband models get access /ability towield certain types of equipment that you pick up in your missions (treasure chests in a D&D game) and open crates and transport pods. You can re allocate weapons and pick up ammo and power packs to recharge your weapons.
Also with each level increase, oyur model (each with theor own character name on oyur warband sheet) has staitistic increases, and ability increases. Example becom a Hospatalier and you get the Feel no pain ability that an Apothacary gets, and so on.
It was a very enjoyable campaign with each warband exploring sections of the space hulk, some joining forces to assist each other. Orks, Eldar, Space WOlves, Blood Angels, Sisters of Battle We did not have a Tau or Dark Eldar warband though.
If you take the time to make warband sheets, varied race development charts, and a form of experience table, and a weapons table that are limited to specific races/levels such as multi melta useable by Spacemarine Devastator/Long Fang, Sisters Retributor, and other races that you might include. Then you develop various missions, and the Blip tokens would be representative of 1 to 3 Genestealers, 2 to 4 Haumagaunt/Termagaunt, 1 Brood Lord, and so on.
I can imagine your mates making sure they do not miss a gaming night as they want to develop their warband's characters. Before we finally stopped meating when Covid hit, My warband had 1 Celestine, 2 Sister Superior, a Hospatalier, a Retributor, a Dominion, and 2 Celestines.
Just an thought to expand your really brilliant use of 6mm minis for a really great game.
_________________ 6mm wargaming is just like 25mm wargaming with more units fitting on the same size table. Thus bigger games to get lost in and avoid the hassles of everyday living, and offerings for the dice gods.
