Hi all, So im running an Epic Armageddon tournament at the end of March and was wondering what the interest would be for an AT one at the same time.

Were bang in between Edinburgh and Glasgow with great access.

Anyone interested?

Being in the US, I'm afraid I won't be able to make it - though I wish I could.

I'm thinking about running an event here in the US, so I'd be interested in hearing as much as you're willing to share about the format, table set up, after action, etc.

Good on you for making it happen!

Sadly we have had no interest at all, which is a shame. most people like to play but not wanting to compete

Have you tried advertising on the few different AT and Epic groups on facebook?

It's too far for me personally.

Dave: just curious - what about the competitive format is unappealing to you and your group?

...or conversely, if something your group values WAS present (like a narrative storyline or something else), could you be lured in?

I'm not Dave, but the reason none of my group ever try to attend competitive format events nowadays is right there in the name. Competition. We play for fun, and our values of fun do not coincide with the values that people at many competitive events we've attended, display. So when we have to pay to attend, it's not worth the chance we'll end up with people ignoring the DBAD rule. Almost all great people outside the competition, just not so much when they're trying to win.

Iv's found that this doesn't actually happen in epic competitions. I've only been to two and both of them were great, regardless of winning and in my case losing a lot. A few good beers, some munchies and some great crack (fun). Everyone iv'e met playing epic has a different attitude that iv'e seen which is a lot different than the 40k groups that are around.

They pay because venues have to be covered including the food, but apart from that its about meeting other gamers who love epic and AT.

If it could be done for free it would but that's not how venues/clubs work.

With respect, plenty of games and clubs work that way. I should know, I run a bunch of them!

The attitudes are a different thing, and I'm glad you've run across some good fun! Schoon asked a question, I just offered the point of view given to me by my little group. Two conventions haven't sat well with other folks and kept them from returning for the reasons I mentioned previously, but at least my first (NEAT) was excellent. Go to NEAT!
