I did not want to Hi-Jack the Imperial Assasins thread so I copied Maksim's responce to my question here. Hope you guys do not mind.

----------------------------------------------------------

Hi Dafrca,

So when will the Necrons make their first public showing? - Dafrca.

I'm not sure. I've been thinking about this project for years and started working on it almost two or three years ago.

I paint a few test pieces every now and then although I'm getting the "Necron" bug again lately. I wish I could have them done for this weekend to show Jervis.

I am looking forward to seeing your Epic scale Monolith. Can't wait to see the other things you come up with. - Dafrca. ?

I'm not happy with the latest sculpt. I may redo it in pieces. My idea was to sculpt the Monolith in four pieces:

1. - Left and right sides
2. - Front piece
3. - Back Piece
4. - Top piece (roof)

I'm having problems getting the back sculpted.

I wanted to make it simple enough that I could cast it with low-grade resin or even Plaster of Paris. I don't know if I'm going to succeed. I have also not cast the top crystal. My nephews have "donated" some Lego crystals! (EVIL LAUGH!)

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Sometimes doing it parts makes it easier to do. At least that is what I am told.  :D

This should look good once you finish with it.

Cheap jewelry beads should also provide all of the gems that you could ever need. My first thought was to use an actual LED for this, as they are really cheap (and you could even get it to light up!).

In that case, swing by a 99 cent store. They seem to always have cheep kids jewlery.

I really wanted to try to use clear green crystals where possible. That's what made it so hard.

I guess that I'll just have to settle for plastic ones and paint them.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

...or go to the 99 cent store and buy the toy jewlery that is already green.

Another thought, the local electronics store often has opened packs of LEDs in their junk bin. Maybe you could see if you have one local as well.
