I have a very simple question, but we can't quite read the rules and be sure how to resolve it.

If a detachment takes enough casualties to break during the shooting phase should the detachment check for morale as soon as they reach break point or check in the end phase?

Under morale it suggest that it should be checked "anytime", which implies right away, but under the end phase it seems stated that morale is checked only in the end phase in the case of breaking point.

I understand that a unit can break for terror, psy powers etc. during the turn. I am only after morale check due to reaching breaking point and when this is resolved?

Hi!

It should be at the turns end.

However I have never used it that way. I roll for morale immediately upon reaching the break point. I feel that the impact of morale is higher this way.

Thanks. Then we played it correctly in the beginning :)

I agree that it makes morale less important, but at the same times some armies are quite unbreakable and unaffected by the increased importance of morale. This means some armies are affected much more than others with immediate breaking IMO.
We will most likely play by the rules :)

Hi!

The second edition/Net Epic morale rules have always been a source of disappointment to me. They are a massive step down from the original SM1/AT1 morale rules.

I often wonder why they even exist given they do very little of substance game wise.
