Could be explained as the direction of reinforcement is towards the outside and the inner walls are vulnerable

Yeah, that's what I was thinking - weak points which troops on the inside could can communicate to the heavy guns ? Or by distracting the defenders on the wall the siege guns can concentrate on the walls?

Rules wise I Just think it makes breaches in the wall a major objective for the attacker and a key problem for the defenders to deal with making for a fun game.

Yeah, I can see the reasoning behind that, but it might work better to reduce the defender's bonuses against shots and assaults from inside the walls.

Love the rules for walls, we used similar ones in a campaign last year. ( although I think these are an improvement). One problem that we had though, and I'm think you might have too, is how to handle blast markers and embarked formations. Particularly if you have a large formation occupying several wall sections.

The problem we had specifically was large IG formations embarked on multiple wall sections coming under fire from MW barrage with multiple templates. We tried a couple different ways of working it, but never quite got it right.
Should the wall section accumulate BMs? Or just the formation? Or both?
Should the formations on the wall be immune to breaking? Or fearless?
These are the questions we asked ourselves, can't remember what we settled on in the end, I'll have to check.

We still had a lot of fun though, and like you say, once there's a breach in the wall, it makes for a very exciting and challenging game for both players.

I think the simplest is to just have the formation take BMs and completely ignore the wall section for morale/breaking as the formation should already be getting a boost from the extra protection.
